So, I was just thinking of those games when we play a team who aims to keep us tight and under control, narrowing out the wings and hitting us on the break, would anyone ever think that a narrow 442 would ever work?
Something like:
Bego
Bardsley Shawcross Wilson Pieters
Whelan N'zonzi Sidwell/Ireland/Adam Bojan
Crouch Diouf
I think this would give us a massive unexpected advantage as teams won't combat it very often and with Sidwell and Whelan guarding the flanks (but playing in the centre) as well as Bojan and Diouf running off Crouch, it could be very stable and fluent on the move.
I do think we'd need fullbacks with better movement on the break though!

I think 442 will be an option if Plan A isn't working. However, our games against Villa and Leicester came early on before Bojan started to get his Mojo back. Now he has got it back and now Moses is faster and fitter than he was at the start of the season, I'm hopeful that the problems we had in those first two home games will be lessened.
PS - I can't see the original posters logic of starting without Moses who has been our most dangerous player in almost every game regardless of what formation we play.

I think 3-5-2 would be better

With all our defenders on the treatment table surely the old fashioned 2-3-5 is the way forward?
Begovic
Shawcross Muniesa
Cameron N'Zonzi Sidwell
Moses Walters Bojan Diouf Arnautovic
Burnley won't know what hit them, they will be no match for our old school tactics....
