Mers deserves a lot of credit ....being that likeable in spite of all his time spent in the N7 postcode .
Ok not as sharp a pencil as Gary Neville , but never afraid to have or voice an opinion , and seems well Aware of his own limited 'high intellect'
I've never heard him be unfair in his summaries of The Potters , even in our 'Marmite' Premiership years

It's a pity that some time in his life he played for the Cunts.

He doesn't pretend to be some sort of the professor of the game and is well aware of his limitations unlike pricks like Keown.

I'm hoping Arnie is a Merson in the making. Mercurial marauder.

I'm hoping Arnie is a Merson in the making. Mercurial marauder. Without the cocaine binges, excessive gambling and crashing his car into a lorry in a haze of Jack Daniels and LSD.

On another note Le Tissier seems to hate Hughes. A remnant of their playing days?

It doesn't mean he loves us he just thinks we'll win. If Arsenal were playing Woking I'd predict them to win it doesn't mean i like them.

On another note Le Tissier seems to hate Hughes. A remnant of their playing days? Not many people would have seen it, but Trevor Francis and Graham Souness were slating Hughes on BEin Sports before the Swansea game. Francis wentract as far to call Crouch a liar when he said he prefers playing in Hughes' system to Pulis' as he has a lot of pace around him and feels less isolated. Apparently the fans were about to turn on Hughes as he is so useless and we are worse than under Pulis. You'd think looking at last season's table which showed an improvement in position and points would have been a more sensible route to take, but obviously taking two games against Villa and Leicester was considered a much fairer way to assess his abilities as a manager. Im sure its more an anti-stoke thing though. My memory seems to recall Pulis getting thinly veiled contempt when he was here and people in the media taking Hughes' side when he was annoyed over Wilko's poor challenge on dembele.

To be fair to Merson a lot of people were saying the same when we were challenging for promotion.
I remember clearly reading 'Stoke won't beat an egg in the Premier League with their primitive shelling methods'. It made it all the sweeter when the long throw was 10 times more effective than it had ever been in the championship (with the added help of narrowing the pitch of course)

On another note Le Tissier seems to hate Hughes. A remnant of their playing days? He virtually admitted it on SSN Soccer Saturday the other week, when he said he never agrees with a word Hughes says in after match interviews. Very sweeping.

I tried look up from when they played together. Couldn't see anything about a bust up. Obviously was though. Can't stand him on soccer sarurday. He never has an opinion until he talks about stoke.

Using the Andy Townsend scale, Merson is a broadcasting God. Trevor Francis doesn't rate too well even on the Andy Townsend scale. In fact you could argue that either Francis or Townsend should be the broadcasting barometer for all things shit.

I find Clarke Carlisle particularly irritating, would be deep down in the bowels of any barometer.
