Mr Gerry Taggart.
Anyone got a link to the Dennis Wise, attempted murder?
Brilliant for us. Loved him like a psychopathic, mad uncle.

Southampton had a player in the 70"s ie John McGrath Hard, dirty and pig ugly !! Mind you, almost their whole team were dirty bastards Brian O"Neil,Dennis Hollywood, Terry Paine, etc remember Bill Shankly labelled them " Ale House Football Team Dave Mackay was hard as f*ck, + we had Bloor, Smith, Pejic & MARSH, no shrinking violets My cousin played for Luton/Cardiff/Pompey & Bournemouth, and he always told me Mark Hughes was hard, and dirty, with the biggest pair of muscled thighs ever [non homophobic]

Brilliant! Love how none of the Leicester players give anything back.
Did he even get a yellow? Love Hughes, but I dearly miss us kicking the shit of the opposition, sometimes.

Don't know if he got a yellow but remember being stunned at the time that he never got a red. Knowing Nello, he probably had a quick word from the stands and sorted it out.

Bournemouth had a dark haired midfielder in the early 90s that used to kick people for fun. Did a proper number on Dave Kevan at our place if I remember. His name escapes me. That wasn't a triffic thing to do

Let's not confuse hard dirty players with cowardly dirty players please Hard dirty players: Roy Keane, Patrick Vieira, Vinnie Jones, Ian Cranson, Peter Schmeichel, Nicky Butt, Emmanuel Petit, Tony Adams, Robbie Savage. Cowardly dirty players: Martin Keown, Jack Wilshere, Mathieu Flamini, Luis Suarez etc etc. You get the picture. Nicky Butt, really?

I forget who it was who said that when Nicky Butt tackled you, he usually took a little bit of ball and a hell of a lot of man.

Never struck me as a "Hard" man, but fair enough. Well he wasn't exactly a majestic Zidane was he? So if he wasn't that, what kind of midfielder was he? And before you reply a shit one, you don't win the Champions League, several Premiership titles and a few FA Cups if you're a shit midfielder. He was a hard tackling midfielder, moulded into a similar style to Keane and Robson.

There aren't any proper dirty players anymore, just a lot of snide ones (like Ings on Saturday) who leave thier boot or elbow in after a challenge.
