I'm pretty sure Joseph Stalin bumped off a few more folks than Adolf Hitler did so it just seems odd. Is it because Hitler focused much of his killing on one race whereas Stalin took a broader approach, an equal opportunity kind of a guy you could say? Or is just more complex than this? You just don't see too many baby Adolf's do you? It is something I have often wondered about

Adolf is just a very distinctive name, Joseph is ubiquitous (and biblical of course).
There are still plenty of Franco's around in the Hispanic world...

It's cultural. Hitler notwithstanding, the name Adolph (Adolf) is intrinsically Germanic, being itself an abbreviated form of the nore traditional Adolphus. It has never been popular here - in the same way that we don't get many Siegfrieds or Wolfgangs. Two famous Adolphs, apart from you-know-who, were Adolphus Saxe, the Belgian who invented the saxaphone, and the German Adolf Dassler, the founder of Adidas. In the aftermath of WW2, the name Adolf lost its appeal in Germany and Austria, and those people (including thousands of children named in honour of the fuhrer) who were christened Adolf opted to re-fashion their names into Adie or Adi - including Herr Dassler.
Joseph, as stated, is Biblical and pretty much universally popular across the Judeo-Christian world. It is Yussef in the Islamic world.

I think adolf is pretty much done for, if the name is only associated with nasty bastards it's going to suffer... looks like Genghis and Attilla have never recovered.
