wrongful image we have at the club? After all, Leeds are still known has dirty Leeds, even though it's over 40 years ago, since they used to kick lumps out of opposing players.

I said three years ago it would take decades.

All it takes is one highlight on MOTD of a late challenge or a tug in the box and we're back to square one.

It's exaggerated on here for sure, most the people I have encountered have a respect for Stoke and the changes we've made... Even the media acknowledge it occasionally and ultimately while we play some nice football now we are still a fairly physical side, which there's nothing wrong with may I add

You can thank arsene Wenger and arsenal for that, let's be honest though lots of games this season I have seen opposition players making badges tackles and picking up yellow cards. But because the image we had under pulis, all it takes is one yellow card, and people start shouting dirty stoke.

"They were physical and brought Crouch in, and it's difficult to defend. It's not the way I like to play but that's Stoke.
Fat Ronald Koeman.

I hope he goes the way of that other flash in the pan, preening, egotistical prick Phil 'Tangoman' Brown. I wish to see Southampton crumble and die under his stewardship.

To be fair, we played some exceptional football last year, yet against Swansea in the first half, we started hoofing it without much of an idea what to do next.
I couldn't really care less what they think tbh. The media are only their to glorify the big teams and the flavour of the month. Once that flavour starts to go bad and begins tasting sour like the rotting scrotum of a deceased badger, they move onto the next flavour of the month.
I call it the circle of media cuntishness.

I don't consider myself cynical when I say it's a stigma that's well and truly stuck. You only have to look at our matches at home; how many times do we see opposition players get away with bookable challenges with perhaps a warning yet as soon as one of our lads commits a similar offence it goes straight in the book... Our reputation precedes us, we always seem to pick up the first yellow card in a game

Southampton are new media darlings, they can't do anything wrong. Correct. Before them, it was Swansea City after they dared to play specially media approved football upon being promoted. Before them, it was Blackpool who were such a wonderful team because they had cheap ticket prices and gave the big boys a run for their money. Before them, it was Hull City who happened to shock a few big teams playing surprisingly similar football to us. Ironically, they finished way below us but we never quite got the adulation they did. Before them, it was Portsmouth who conned and tax avoided their way to the UEFA Cup and so on and so on...

I was talking to a Leeds fan in Cornwall last week and my first comment to him was 'Dirty Leeds'. If I think of Wimbledon all I think of is 'long ball', it's been decades since their heyday. We 'might' shake it off eventually but it'll take a fair few years imo.

It isn't gonna happen though is it? Korman's a cock and has been sine 1992/93 but that Southampton side are pretty good. Thought they were over-hyped last season though.

Perhaps we should be more concerned about shaking off the stigma of being in the lower leagues for 23 years.

Difference is we've actually tried to change our style. The point is I've no idea how they do or don't play nowadays but that's still my view of them. IF we stay in the Premiership and play the football we are evidently capable of (even if it is only a half at a time at the moment) more often then for the people who watch the Premiership the general view will obviously gradually change. When we weren't in the Premiership, I personally didn't have that much interest in it, Stoke weren't in it so frankly I didn't give a shit, so my own view of teams was probably more affected by the media than it should have been. I doubt I'm alone in caring only about the division my own team is in, meaning there'll be people still associating us with the Pulis style of play for years yet imo.

I quite like Shane Long We'll have to wait and see, as far as I'm concerned they've beaten us twice now, close in terms of score line but not close enough. Whilst you may well be right about their form IF they lose a player or two, the fact is, we've been blighted by that since the season started. Suppose it's just the way it is sometimes. We're not being able to find our perfect balance unfortunately.

I was at the Britannia last night and, as a saints fan living in Stoke, I know that Stoke play very decent football. Much more high quality than even the Stoke fans give their team credit for.
At the end of the day, lazy fans just like pigeon-holing other teams. Stoke hoof, dirty Leeds, arsenal pass it into the net, struggling saints, all man Utd fans are from Torquay, Liverpool fans wear shell suits, etc. None of these things are accurate representations of teams but fans are to lazy to really see the reality.
I like the way Stoke play and they are definitely my second team. I never had a problem with the pulis way either, I always enjoyed seeing Wenger get in a tizzy about it. But I know sone Stoke fans who refused to go to any games whilst he was manager because they couldn't abide his style, no matter how successful or effective.
