If you got a parking fine down by the canal parked on the grass verge DONT PAY IT AND APPEAL.
It's not legally enforceable it's not a fine its a " charge " by a private bully boy firm (I think they were called UKPS) reliant on people to just pay up. I appealed a similar fine at Liverpool airport recently from a private firm and this was accepted. These people won't be arsed to take you to court as it is not economically viable to do so. Basically appeal on the grounds that the punishment is disproportionate for the alleged offence , the fact you have parked there all season without a charge and can they really lay claim to owning a grass verge.
I'll find my previous appeal letter and post it. DO NOT PAY - they rely on this.

It's not a fine it's a penalty charge all you have to do is send them a letter saying that although you are the registered keeper of the vehicle you were not the driver at the time the charge was issued and they need to send the charge to the driver, you are not obliged to inform them who the driver was. Gouranga.

DON'T call them and DON'T admit to being the driver. As Albert says, this 'charge' is for the driver only, if the parking 'offence' takes place on private land. If it is not on private land then a request [in the third party] for a copy of the said Private Parking Company's (PPC) contract with the local council authorising them to issue these notices usually shuts them up. Plenty of other cases about private parking tickets are on the internet.

They can only as you to pay what it has caused them as a loss... i.e. Absolutely nothing.
Friend of mine had one from a similar company as they overstayed their 2hr parking by 20 mins and a parking charge was issued for this. The car parks loss was £1 as they could have had someone else park in the space in the 20min period they over stayed, that is all they were paid after a long drawn out process involving parking regulators.

I also had a PCN last night.
Have just sent them a letter saying
1. Not parked on yellows 2. Not parked on pavement as there isn't one 3. I have photographic evidence 4. I am not paying and await their comments 5. Charge is excessive 6. Their notice states an imaged can be viewed on their website = It can't.
DON'T PAY

That's the old advice dirtygary, the new advice is to write to them and deny all knowledge. If you ignore it, there's some sort of suggestion that you can admit guilt or something. MSE is great for this stuff.

This thread is fascinating. I am considering murdering my next door neighbour due to an out-of-hand dispute over sunbathing, exacerbated over time by the ongoing residual issue of boundary-transgressing overgrown leylandiiii. Are there any post-event loopholes I can start to exploit beforehand?

Can somebody please either PM me with a copy of the notices (obviously with the numberplate redacted if you wish). I have history with these things.

Thank you both for your advice. Stan, do you have any experience with my situation? Alternatively, could you walk past my neighbours house with a large megaphone reading the bible between 5-6pm tomorrow night?

Simply ignore all communication, even when they do the increased amount bluffing. Give it about 5 letters and they'll be gone, after their bluffing baliffs and court nonsense.

Also got a fine. Unsure which option is best. Ignore it or appeal? Either way I'm not paying.
Should be interesting to see if same occurs on Saturday or if it was a one off.

Beware of these Muppets,if you don't appeal and get the ticket cancelled, they can have you for no payment and if they see your car they will clamp it and there will be a notice that your vehicle has been clamped due to non payment of fine.It will be released if you phone xxxxxxx but they then charge you a on the spot release fee.

Admittedly I normally sunbathe in a shocking pink thong which doesn't leave much to the imagination. And yes, yes in summer months I will occasionally go au natural. I then get called a pervert. Yet if I climb onto my garage roof and use a telephoto zoom lens to stare in at his wife in the bathroom getting changed, all of a sudden I'm the bad guy again - how the chuffing hell is that fair?
