Would like to see us experiment a bit in midweek.
With Crouch in the team we are reverting to lumping it up to his head and hoping for something to drop for us. Our build up play is slow and goes nowhere, inevitably it ends up with a backpass to Begovic to lump it forwards aimlessly again.
Front six of
Moses Diouf Assaidi
Walters
Cameron Nzonzi
get our quickest players up top and look for through balls behind the defence. Maybe have Walters in the middle supporting Diouf and winning some flick-ons for him

I'd give Bojan a game on Wednesday.

He was but at the same time wasn't in our top 7 worse players which tells a story.

It seems whatever combination we try doesn't really cut the mustard. I'd like to see Cameron, Sidwell and Ireland given a go. ( yes I know a Ireland !!)

I'd try out a front three of Assaidi - Bojan - Arnautovic

Our midfield was non existant though and worries me much more. Cameron, N'Zonzi and Adam were all utterly woeful.

We need to get Arnie, Bojan, Moses and Muniesa playing together, they could be the future of Stoke for a long time.

?????!!!!??? Wouldn't even get on my bench. He's in horrendous form and currently looks utterly useless.

Incidentally, I noticed defenders holding Crouch on multiple occasions yesterday, only for Crouch to have the foul given against him. Consistency is nice.

I really like Arnie but can't see any justification for him starting, it's a bit of a 'catch-22'.
Unless we're not going to take it that seriously and are as bothered about players game-time as we are the result.

Yea we some more pace and movement, If only Odemwingie was fit Id go Tommy Bardsley Ryan Huth Muniesa Cameron Nzonzi Arnie Bojan Moses Diouf Arnie has got to start performing soon, I'd say Assaidi but I've never seen him or Moses on the right

I'd play him in home games but not away, need more pace away from home.

I wouldn't "drop" him for Wednesday. I wouldn't play him though, time give the angry wee Catalan a go up there. And Crouch plays on Saturday.

Personally I don't think we should mess around with the team too much in midweek. We should pick our strongest possible side because in reality the league cup is our best chance of actually winning something so why throw it away by using it as an experiment . We are frustrating to watch at the minute but that's just how it is sometimes . We are still struggling with our new identity .

Because we stand a good chance of being relegated and need to play the likes of Huth, Arnie, Ozzy, Sidwell and Bojan into form so we have options up front, out wide and at the back? I couldn't give a shiny shit about the cup tbh.

The sub solved one problem in getting some support up there with Diouf alongside Crouch. But then it left Nzonzi/Cameron in central midfield when we needed Adam to get on the ball and play some decent through balls. At the moment it seems like we need 12 players on the pitch and we keep compensating one area of the pitch to the detriment of the other. For me though Crouch is too much of a one-trick pony. Defences are not scared of him the same way a player with a turn of pace. Would definitely like to see Diouf & Bojan upfront together to try something different. But then our approach play has to be 100% different to what it was yesterday

This is our best chance of silverware.
No experimenting, no fringe players, just full on commitment to win.

This of course is the sensible option Hughes will take.Rest not 'drop Crouch and play him on Saturday and give Bojan a chance to play that isn't a reward for throwing his toys out.

I thought our little double header with Southampton would end up with one win each, like the Sunderland games.
After seeing the huge gulf in class between the two sides yesterday I'm not so sure.
