Pointless signing so far and stupid to even have him in the bench when the intention is clear And yet Ossie just gets on each time despite a country mile off match fitness = poor management " ossies's " stats are very strong , surprisingly so.

Maybe he's doing the same with bojan as he did with Muni last year after one or two nothing appearances.
Get him in the gym on the protein shake s and we'll be seeing him at some point after Xmas.

Hopefully just a one-off tantrum but its a chance we take as we shop in the bargain basement and sign more and more 'damaged goods'.

I hope he did tbh. It shows he cares. Now it's his time to take that anger (if true) and turn it into a performance when used. Because so far when he's played he's been wank.

Is Bojan's issue just that he doesn't really have a natural position in a 4-2-3-1? He might work playing in a two, either playing off Crouch or playing as a false 9 with Diouf in the hole, but we don't really have the luxury of experimenting with him in the league.

It appears to be yes, the same with Diouf. Neither really fit the system the manager is playing.

I'd give him a go, and line up like this
Begovic
Bards - Wilson - Ryan - erik Zonz - Cameron Walters - Bojan - Moses Crouch

I hate to write people off so early in their Stoke careers, but it was pretty obvious after the Villa game that Bojan is simply not going to work out. Nice little player technically without a doubt, but he is too weak and doesn't seem to have a position.

He is definitely not competing with Ireland for a place. Hopefully Hughes knows that.
He can play as a number 9 ahead of someone like Crouch/ Diouf. That is definitely worth a shot but it means playing 2 in central midfield (unless Diouf has the ability to play as a midfielder like Walters has on occasion)
4-4-1-1 would suit Bojan (whodathunkit - TP's fave formation bringing out the best of a Barcelone wonderkind)

If you throw in Arnie's apparent regression, a lot of things seem to be up in the air about what the big idea is. The general assumption before a ball was kicked seemed to be that Diouf would be the lone forward - with Ireland or Bojan playing off him - with Crouchy maybe as a Plan B of sorts. But things have gone in a really different direction, as Diouf has given the impression he's not really cut out for that kind of job and Bojan has been quickly dispensed with as an option playing off the front man. Not sure a wide role is remotely Diouf's cup of tea - and God only knows where Bojan can fit in if you're not going to play a front two.

It appears the system would have to change to accommodate either, playing to their strengths. Maybe they would click as a front two.

It seems without PO out wide right, a 4-3-3 formation isn't really working so maybe a time to go old school 4-4-2

4-4-2 is the only potential fit for him, playing off Crouch or Diouf, but that leads to questions about the midfield. Imo you need a box to box midfielder in a 4-4-2 to link up play and one sitting. Who of the current squad would perform the box to box role? Would the wide men have to come inside as it were? Chopping and changing the formation and line-up to fit in what is really a luxury player seems a bit much to me. However much I want him to succeed here, I don't see much more than cameo appearances.

Absolutely I don't see Hughes himself actually changing the system. But it does seem that he has signed two forwards that don't actually fit into that system.

Crouchy has been decent so far this season but the pace and mobility in that team is surely worth a go.

Team for Wednesday: ------------- Sorensen Bardsley Shawcross Huth Pieters ------- Nzonzi Muniesa -------- Arnie ----- Bojan ----- Assaidi ----------- Diouf ------------- As I have alluded to earlier I would like to see a team such as that given a start. However it would effectively become 4-4-2 and I don't see Hughes playing that formation. Is Nzonzi disciplined enough for the holding role?

Yes isn't it nice to have options. Cameron certainly deserves some more game time in a midfield role.
