If harry had any sense he'd ask to stay in prison, as it's safer than the alleged free society we live in.

Fucking disgraceful that killing a police officer is viewed as so much worse than killing any other human being. People have been let out for far worse after serving less, and it's not caused as much of a stir. Pretty disgraceful that he's being let out still Yep, killing a police officer is worse. However if you're a police officer, you can kill whoever you want, just ask Harry Stanley, well don't, he's dead, he was shot by a police officer who had absolutely no reason to fire at him. What happened? The policemen were allowed to continue serving and the Met subsequently said that they were delighted that the officers had been let off but were disappointed it had gone to trial in the first place. A reminder... they shot an unarmed man, who wasn't wanted for any crime and was walking home from the pub. Quality police work there guvnor. It wasn't exactly for no reason though was it? Several people had reported a man carrying a shotgun, when he was challenged he swung round with a chair leg wrapped in plastic in his hands, granted hardly a dangerous weapon , however, you start pointing things at Armed Officers this kind of thing will happen. He was also a convicted armed robber and served time for GBH and pissed at the time. Tough shit unfortunately. H

It's not really a chant to get too precious about now is it? It's actually a very interesting piece of social history and was part of the time. Most coppers who Policed football matches wouldn't have been particularly offended as they were too busy hitting football fans over the heads with truncheons when they weren't attacking law abiding picket lines. Oh you mean those law abiding pickets that were throwing lumps of concrete from road bridges in an attempt to kill miners who were legally trying to go to work to support their families. Yeh those police really were twats

You got to laugh at the Police Federation - they really did think their members could screw other unions for a few pieces of silver. And that one day the Tories wouldn't come for them too.

Another thread decends into massive defence for the criminal. For the most evil of crimes this time. ANY cold blooded murderer should never see light of day again. In fact they should see the end of a rope and thats it. Police put themselves in huge risk without being able to be armed most the time and they are slaughtered, usually by the old timers who are still stuck in the 1980's when crowds were piss poor because families were terrified come to football matches. Of course blame the police though. Say anything about a fully armed soldier though and you'd get linched. Respect to everyone who serves to protect.

Vicious beatings dished out by a politically motivated fascist force, falsified evidence, evidence 'mysteriously' going missing. I think we know who the real criminals are. Ladies and Gentleman, I give you South Yorkshire Police. I suppose we should be thankful that they learned their lesson though and weren't in the news again in the 80's Filthy scum.

Lee Rigby was butchered in the street by two armed Islamic militants, he was unarmed the armed police arrived too late to save him and managed to let the two scum bags live, will these people serve 48 years in prison ? , I doubt they will, yes all murderers who are undeniably guilty should face a death penalty no distinctions should be made whether they are police officers or not.

Ladies and Gentleman, I give you South Yorkshire Police. I suppose we should be thankful that they learned their lesson though and weren't in the news again in the 80's Filthy scum. Not just SYP though. I have two friends who both served in Devon and Cornwall Constabulary. One was uniformed the other was a detective PC in what was then known as Regional Crime Squad. Both spent weeks policing the picket lines during the miners strike and both had harrowing tales to tell of violence from both sides. Picket Thugs who terrorised families of miners who did not follow the union line of striking and police who lured pickets into ambushes to give them a good kicking to mention a couple but there was much more. It wasn't just the police. Yes the police could get away with much more than they can today. Both my friends did well out of the overtime to the extent that one of them bought a sailing boat and named it Arthur Scarghill. I am not condoning violence from either side but just saying what I know.

Yes, he's only doing his job. Look in the blokes right hand. He's clearly got a brick in it.... Whats the bobby meant to do? Let him throw it? Jesus wept....god only knows what this country would be like without police. what a brick with a strap its a camera (bravo)you have police eyesight. "The bloke" is Lesley Boulton a mother of 2 teenagers at the time and a member of Women Against Pit Closures. She was indeed carrying a camera. The baton actually missed her. The picture was taken on 18 June 1984 at Orgreave. In a an interview in 2009 about the photo she said " As I stood up to attract this policeman's attention, this officer on a police horse just bore down on me. "Fortunately for me there was someone standing behind me who was also with the injured miner, who just yanked me out of the way. I felt it go past me. I was just missed by the skin of my teeth really. That part was very, very disturbing. Because the police were actually having a very good time, they were enjoying this huge exercise of brutal authority, so I found that very disturbing." We went across to Orgreave that day. The police were out of control.
