There is definitely a gap in the market for black boots and I expect them to come back more widely. Further I think glory and adulation await any player willing to run with an old school goal 'celebration' in terms of simply letting it appear as though the ball ending up in the back of the net was only what you expected and in any case it is just your job and so you simply jog back to the half way line for the restart only stopping to shake the hand of any team mate who wishes to do so on the way, it would be class! I'm amazed no one has seized the opportunity for a histrionics free goal celebration! I used to that wearing my BROWN Stanley Mathews boots (from the Co-op). Happy days. Exactly, it was just your job right, why wouldn't it have gone in? No need for any histrionics, perhaps shake the hands of 1 or 2 at most of the others involved and prepare for the restart

"I refuse to wear black boots as i believe they are insinuating that black men should be walked on and be kept as downtrodden members of society" said Mr.S Campbell of North London Not funny Mickmills But I assume as you use quotes here the reference is factual and accurate and can be traced. Otherwise your opinion is unacceptable. Lie down and have a cup of tea

Wonder if Charlie's boots also have nailed in studs. Would have made his alleged stamp on the carpet that is Olivier Giroud much more interesting.

When I was a kid in the 70s, I was the only lad with white boots. I thought I was the dog's bollocks but, looking back, they were probably just a little bit crap. Mind you, it would have helped if I was good at football. But, like the boots, I was just a little bit crap

Only one player per team should be allowed to wear coloured boots. Even then, that should just be so the opposition know which players is the fancy Dan that they need to keep kicking up in the air.
Bring back proper football boots.

The tide is turning. I've noticed that this term, at the secondary school I work, one or two of the 'top' footy players are all sporting Puma King or adidas World Cup.
It just looks so right.

But, like the boots, I was just a little bit crap I bought a pair of white Hummels (Alan Ball boots) in 1973 and have a picture taken in our school Under 15 team which shows me as the only one not wearing black! Perfectly good boots, but they did make you a target

It's a shame they retail for around £180.00, a few lower budget ones would do well... Some lads in my Sunday team have taken Sharpies to take out the stripes! Black Umbros, £19.99 from sports direct. Suit me for reffing, obviously can't have fluorescent boots for that
