Stoke City: Club legend Alan Hudson honoured by Seattle Sounders
What a pity that Huddy, England's finest, had to go to America to receive an honour befitting his ability as a footballer. What a pity that no one in his own country saw fit to recognize him for the finished article as a footballer.Thank you Huddy for all the wonderful stuff you delivered in red and white, thank you for the privilege of watching the best footballer this country has ever produced.Today's supporters will never be fortunate enough to see your likes again. Best of luck with your health problems, mate, and thanks again for the memories, I'd travel a long way today to see you playing again as you did in your prime.

Nowhere near Englands finest. Just a few that were better Gascoigne, Hoddle, Bobby Charlton and Bobby Moore.

Agree its opinions, but players like Hoddle could control a match and also score goals, Hudson couldn't score enough. Best individual performance I have ever seen was Bobby Moore in the League cup semi final at Hillsborough. He was fantastic.

True, Huddy didn't score a lot of goals, but his play made sure others could. We'll have to agree that we've seen the best, even if we disagree who was the best.

Have to agree with lancer he was the finest midfield creator in my time. He was unique though so comparing him to others such as Gazza, Hoddle etc is very difficult. He didn't score many goals because that wasn't his role. But he could control the field of play from all over the pitch with his masterful control and presence. You knew when Huddy collected the ball on the edge of his area that something special would be likely to happen. Waddo allowed him free reign on the pitch which suited him but when he went to the arse the fuckwit Terry neill fucked him over by not letting him play his natural game so Huddy went to USA. Reasons part two to fucking despise that North London bunch of morons and imbeciles.

For me Chesterfield is right in that Bobby Moore was the greatest English centre half/ captain that I have ever seen ( didn't see Franklin). BUT Hudson was by far the best creative midfield player, far superior to Gascoigne. Charlton was a different type of mid fielder, certainly great in his position/way. We are fortunate at Stoke of course in being able to see one of the world's greatest keepers in Gordon Banks in roughly the same era. When talking about Great (English) players their position has to be taken in to account....... was there a better goal poacher than Greavsie? Hudson, Greavsie and Banks could certainly hold their own in the modern game.

Gascoigne. Piss head. Hoddle, Big Jessie! The other two, I'll give you. Hudson was a far better player than the first two!

Hudson demonstrably better than Gascoigne and Hoddle? Big statement. Hudson could pass like the latter and could jink like the former but both scored goals too.
Hmmm.

These things are only ever a matter of personal opinion.
There was a fella who played up at Newcastle by the name of Tony Green who was as good a player as I have ever seen. He never gets a mention outside of Newcastle but they rate him one of the best ever (I agree with them).

Nowhere near Englands finest. Just a few that were better Gascoigne, Hoddle, Bobby Charlton and Bobby Moore. Huddy was COOL though Bobby Charlton is an old establishment bore with a bad comb over. Glen Hoddle still looks like he may say something very strange to you if you found yourself alone with him in a lift. Bobby Moore was also cool but in in a lights on but no one at home kind of way. But Huddy had it all, I LOVE Huddy

Never forget his debut against Liverpool a master class What about his England debut against West Germany? He was absolutely fantastic. Ball and, I think, Bell in the midfield with him. There must be footage somewhere

There must be footage somewhere Great video. Huddy really was as good as I remember him. They missed the bit where he stood with his foot on the ball, inviting the Germans to take it off him. What a pitch! I think that's Alf Ramsey giving expert comments.

As far as I know Huddy wasn't a total pisshead while he was playing, at least not as bad as Gascoigne. Still a far better player anyway!
