I fucking hate new age fans with their stuck up views of other clubs. My lady's eldest is a Shit fan (to be fair his dad is from Manchester) and I keep drumming into him that he should never disrespect any other team as no club is more important than any other. He was of the view that lower league teams weren't important but I've set him straight that any club in league two or even below is every bit as important as a top four club. I never once talk about the opposition as a shit, talentless, or wank club, etc as its a really shitty attitude to have. I respect and know how difficult games will be and every point is a bonus so it's nice to know most Stokies still have their feet on the ground and don't get carried away by this modern football attitude that really embarrasses long standing fans. I fucking hate modern football fans. So much more straight forward in thecold days when both sets of fans would just batter the shit out of each other

Saints fan in peace. Not all Saints fans are abusive or fools and think that our sh!t doesnt stink. As you will find on a forum of other teams EVERYBODY is derogatory at times to opposition. I just wanted to say that Stoke has a reputation of being hard to beat & are a very phsical side...i love the fact that you play/ed this way.FOOTBALL has got a bit stale with all this...oooh you touched me im falling over crap.I think that a strong tackle is good and shoulder barges are comical especially when the person barged goes flying. 5 years ago we were nigh on extinct due to being poorly run by a twat of a chairman luckily we were saved by the GREAT MARKUS LIEBHERR and so far we havent looked back. When we look back to those dark days of league 1 it made us realise how vulnerable we were as a club Now we find ourselves 3rd in the Prem & yes we are gloating to a degree because of how our club was ripped apart & the manager leaving..we were also tipped for relegation. Wouldnt you yourselves be the same proving pundits/experts wrong ?! Yes we may slip down the table when injuries come or go on a bad run BUT we may well stay in the top 6.All i do is hope my team plays well with the will to win AS for the Sunderland result everybody knows they collapsed after the stunning opener from vergini BUT also we played good football. It was a freak result & thats that. Our stock has risen with us playing entertaining passing high pressure football very rarely it is constantly hoofed. We play from the back and we play quick. I wish you well for the season EXCEPT Saturday coming. ONLY FISH SUPPORT THE SKATES MEN SUPPORT SAINTS !! I like this sort of post - there are some real supporters at other clubs!

OK. I give in.
I read all the comments on their thread and I've tried really, really hard to get irritated by them but I just can't.
They're such a cute, inoffensive kind of club. Even having moved from the ultimate in homely, snug little grounds that made you want to watch the match with your slippers on and a nice cup of tea.
As much as I try and hate them I can't help but love them. They're like the innocent little brother of the proper club just up the road, Portsmouth.
I think its great that they're all enjoying their brief moment of glory and fame. I would love to give all their cheeky little fans a collective tickle under the chin.
Cheeky little scamps. You've got to love 'em!

I like Southampton and have family connections with the club (uncle was asst manager for at least two spells) and used to go to quite a few Saints games on complimentary tickets at grounds up here. As such they are my sort of second team, as much as I have one at all.
Always found their fans to be a decent lot and, as some of their truce parleyers have stated on this thread, I am not sure that those idiots are representative (half of them probably live in Asia and the US anyway).
It just looks like it will be another lot of keyboard warriors who we might surprise on Saturday. I hope we are up for this one and give a good account of ourselves. I look forward to the day when we win a game and actually get some credit for it, rather than being accused of cheating, being lucky, parking the bus, or resorting to foul play by the gracious losers.

I know a few Saints fans and they are ok but dreadfully half arsed. I find the views from their forum totally baffling, have they actually watched us the past few seasons cos it appears not. Anyways I now hate them and tar every single one of em with the same brush and hope we win by the dodgiest fucking decision in the history of football,I mean we need all the luck we can get against the real established top teams..... like Southampton.

I am so outraged by their views that I intend to send a strongly worded letter of complaint to their Chairman Seriously why do people get so agitated about these things ? Yes there is a lot of nonsense spouted on there but it's not like we don't get shit posted on here is it..... Every time Salop and co bleat on about their beloved Conservative party for instance Anyway just ignore it and whatever will be will be over the next 2 games

People from other clubs can say what they want about Shawcross but he is what he is, that being an old fashioned, no nonsense defender. All the top clubs have one i.e. Terry, Kompany (ok he has class too) but Ryan is exactly what the Arsenal's, Liverpool's and Man Utd's are lacking at the moment and we should make no apologies for his style. We all know we'd be a hell of a lot weaker without him so other fans opinions of him don't interest me at all.

I'm starting to feel good again, we are reverting a bit to type with a bit of direct play and pacey wide men, but it's certainly not boring. Everyone seems to dislike us again now and a few are beginning to hate us. It's hilarious.

Welcome to 2009...
"They bring a lot of physical qualities, they are strong in defence," he said. "They are one of the teams very dangerous at set pieces." "Everybody knows Crouch," Koeman said, "(Stoke) play long balls and second balls and you need a lot of attention but we play at home and we have to do our game ... we like to play our way and that gives the players a lot of confidence.

Started reading their forum then low and behold.. After 5 mins forgot where I was and thought I was back on the Oatcake...
Slagging off opposition teams, think they're bigger than they actually are... Everyone else's fans are scum... Their team are always hard done by... Other teams get all the luck.. Etc etc etc...
Exactly like we do here... It's almost a home from home...
Conclusion: Shock.. Horror... No matter who you support, a proportion of vocal football fans will always believe the above... Football would be pretty 4kin dull if they didn't.

You rarely see score predictions with more than a goal in it.

I imagine when they play Arsenal, the same people go on that site and say that Arsenal is the team they are emulating. You just have to think of them like Arsenal, southern wankers - just a bit more southern with lot more wankers.
Having got my bit of petulance in, I don't really mind Southampton. I always liked Mick Channon and Matt Le Tissier as players, I remember the Lawrie McMenemy days when they always seemed to be a great team. More recently, they have done a great job of rebuilding. I think it was their success and Swansea's as well that helped to bring about the change of management and style at Stoke (it has changed no matter what they say). I would be ecstatic if we produced the players that their academy produces and it is often entertaining to watch them play.
Having said that, they don't have the class they had last year, nor the squad. I bet they drop off after Christmas. In the meantime, we have done well on the road this year. So ignoring all their pompous, superior wafflry and our chip-on-the-shoulder responses, a balanced view would say a draw would be a likely outcome. Lawro has it down as a 1-1 draw, I wouldn't disagree with that.

More wankers than Arsenal? Not possible mate, but wankers all the same.
