Fancy a clean sheet for this one.

Geoff in midfield? Assuming Whelan is out.

Said to my lad on Saturday night, we'll win at Southampton in a classic example of the topsy -turvy nature of English football. It'll be like "after the Lord Mayor's Show", we'll bring Southampton back down to earth with a bump. Not only that but me and the lad will be there to see it!
Goooaaarrrnnn Stoke!

Will be a very tough match and not expecting anything. That said we have enough to cause them problems.

It's a real toughie, I expect them to be in the top 7 or 8 come the end of the season and they're on the back of a high for obvious reasons.
Feel better after yesterday though (I think we beat a decent Swansea team) and we've got enough quality to give them a tough game. Not expecting anything but hopefully we can play like we did in the second half yesterday!

Let's try and move on and focus our attention to a very tough game at the weekend.
I'm sure our team will be under extra scrutiny, let's answer the critics by showing the best things about our football.
Certainly some play that created are winning goal would be a start.
It may be that Moses isn't in our starting 11 - the performances of all 3 subs made a real difference and with Arnie likely to be available again, VM may be on the bench.

Is this the official 100% authentic, accept no imitations match thread? It's highly unusual that there is no pinned match thread the day before a match. This must be it.
Now i've said that admin will probably not pin this one, just to play with me. Cheeky tomfoolery.

Goals please stoke city. with a clean sheet from our defense. Begovic Bardsley shawcross Huth / wilson Pieters cameron muniesa Adam Diouf Bojan Crouchy. I think their plan will be to stop moses. Plan worked then, he's not even in your team Hopefully Bardsley is ok which allows Geoff to continue in midfield. Have a feeling Walters may stay in too as extra cover We need to be switched on for this one Hoping for a shock win since I'll be there

There's no way in hell we're keeping a clean sheet tomorrow.
I'd be delighted if we came back with a point, in all honesty.

I'd love a clean sheet but they're scoring for fun and we're still shaky at the back - best hope for me is we tighten it up but keep open enough too and maybe a 1-1 or 2-2 - but honestly to come away from this with anything at all I'll be a happy lady.

It'll be a close game, but ultimately i think we had ought to be happy with any point we can get, given Southampton's recent form.

I thought The Saints looked certain to plummet like a stone this season. I'm glad they havn't crashed and burned, I've liked them since their FA Cup Final smash and grab against Man U {1976?}. They've produced/employed some fine talent over the years, proper footballers, fine lads. Having said that I conner stand them tomorrow. Obviously they are dangerous and I wonder whether sitting back and relying on a speedy counter attack {like at Man City} will play into the hands of Wanyama, Tadic and that Pelle fella etc. Since our treatment table is as full as the Bench, and because Moses and Diouf seem short of a full 90 just yet. {To protect them now may reap rewards at the tail end of the season.} I'd go funky tomorrow. Push up, pull them as wide as possible, and keep going for the throat. I'd have SJW on to mither Wanyama. ----------------------- Begovic------------------------- ---------------- Wilson Shawcross Pieters----------------- -{Moses} Assaidi Cameron Adam N'Nonzi Muniesa {Arnie}-- ------------- Walters {Diouf} Crouch------------- I thought the Adam free kick vs Swansea showed some potential. I expect at least one Stoke set-piece goal tomorrow. It's funny how the CCup has thrown up the Sunderland and Southampton fixtures so close to the Prem games. Form suggests that in such even contests there's rarely a double. It's an opportunity to get experimental. I'd settle for a draw tomorrow, for a win in the Cup. Go on the Potters.

If Whelan is out: Begovic Bardsley Wilson Shawcross Pieters Cameron Nzonzi Adam Moses Walters Crouch I agree. The logical approach is to "park the bus" and take the sting out of them. Crouch and Walters are good at helping defend. If losing, then throw on attackers for the last 20 mins.

Exactly, its all about the counter attack tomorrow, and with the way they play we should get a few chances to do it, so I wouldn't be against sitting a little and waiting for the opportunities.

I reckon we will nick a 1-1 draw. If we turn up tomorrow instead of putting in another wank Sunderland-esque performance, we can match them.

Hoping for a win, expect the draw but either-way it's going to be tough one and we have to stop their fast counters and cut them passing lanes. Ideal game for Geoff and Nzonzi to get down and dirty while charlie ghost's forward on the breaks.
If Bardsley/ Huth and obviously Glenn isn't fit on Saturday I'd probably go with;
Bego Wilson Shawcross Muniesa Pieters Cameron Nzonzi Adam Diouf Crouch Moses
Cameron and Nzonzi have to put in more of a defensive cover role to frustrate them then go for it when opportunity knocks.
Simples.
Goarn Potters!

Gcam starts in front of the back 4 in his 'Im gonna nick the ball' role and, why not try Mark Muniesa at Right Back ?
Other than that - it is plain, someone needs to shut these southern twats up rapidly - why not us ?
