Very attacking but I'd swap Ireland for Moses and then Ireland for Assiadi
I'd then get Nzonzi and Whelan both sit
That 3 behind Crouch Swansea wouldn't cope with...

Fonz can't play holding midfield.
Charles is worth his place too.

I'm nervous about this game to be honest. I'm more confident about away games these days which is wierd.

Cambiasso of Leicester City is a DM but that doesn't stop him getting forward and scoring goals! When's the last time Whelan scored?

Like that's the problem. ...or even in the top 5 problems.

Cambiasso of Leicester City is a DM but that doesn't stop him getting forward and scoring goals! When's the last time Whelan scored? Whelan isn't being asked to get forward, in fact I'm pretty sure he's being told not to get forward very often, his role isn't about scoring goals its about protecting the back four and breaking up the oppositions attacks. How does that make the midfield a man short, midfielders have different roles and ours, on the hole, compliment each other well.

I wouldn't play Begovic, Shawcross, Huth, Bardsley, Pieters, Whelan or Nzonzi.
Sure, they can defend but they just don't score enough.

We need some stability so we need a Whelan to sit in front of the back 4. The only 3 I'd consider changing are Wilson, NZonzi unless he starts passing forward and Muni as for me Eric's more solid So if fit
Bego
Bards Ryan Huth Eric
Whelan GCam
Moses Adam Diouf
Crouch

Isn't Drinkwater the holding midfielder for Leicester? Not in the FH at Stoke! Drinkwater sat at the Brit to let Cambiasso get forward. He was the holding midfielder, not Cambiasso.

Further to my earlier post above,
Stoke really do need to beat Swansea; they got off to a flying start to the season with an away win at United and then 2 comfortable home wins against Burnley and West Brom. Since then though their results have been indifferent/poor.
Stoke have got to start putting teams like them "to the sword" and looking to boost their goal difference. If they can't we can start forgetting about a top ten position.

Ireland is fantastic at finding spaces in attacking positions both with and without the ball when he is in form. To make this happen he needs game time, but maybe only an hour before replacing him with Adam who can be very effective agains a tireing defence.

Frightening to see that some fans want to drop the only player who did anything for us against Sunderland... and for a guy who has done the square root of fuck all to justify starting.

It may be a bit harsh to drop Adam at the moment as he's doing alright (and I don't think Hughes will for the Swansea game), but I'm convinced that in the long run, we'll be a better team for getting Ireland involved with Diouf, Moses, and Crouch, (or Arnie if/when he gets his place back).
I wouldn't be surprised if Sparky thought the same too, based on his team selections since he arrived here.

The only grounds Ireland would get back into my side is injuries to other players (Diouf, Moses, Wingie), Arni is totally out of touch, and Assaidi looks tricky but has no end product (shot or pass). But if Walters is fit, I think I'd even give him a go before Ireland, based on Ireland's form against Sunderland in the Capital Cup. MH sees these guys "every day" so probably knows best who work well together.
