You'd think that he could get a contract at a Championship team even for back up...

Now if he was earning £5K a week that's £260K a year that's some decent spending to be broke already

Shame. Seemed a decent bloke Unfortunately there's a lot of decent blokes out there who get fucked over by hangers on at the end of their career.

Carlo seems to be a regular in the court room these days.
He was there last month as well accused of stalking his estranged wife, with incidents reported at her Stockton Heath home.
Not sure where that case went.

I actually feel sorry for the guy. Met him once, top bloke. Sounds like he's been fucked over by his ex-wife, money grabbing etc.

Surely he'd get a championship or league 1 team. What's bloody going on? Sounds like he's having a breakdown.
Can only hope he gets through.

Amazing how much more sympathetic people seem to be towards third-rate ex-Stoke players than they are with non-celebs ("celeb" being used in the loosest possible sense re: Carlo Nash obviously).
If Gaz the salesman had been done for stalking his ex and driving at twice the legal speed limit, I'd wager there'd have been a whole lot less trying to see the smashing bloke behind the offence and a whole lot more "why are we so soft on these bastards?!?".

Not sure if you're speaking to me, or everyone in general, but all I said was that he was having a breakdown. That's not me calling him a smashing bloke... Does every thread on the Oatcake have to turn into a blazing row?

the amount of professional footballers who get divorced as their careers wind down is quite high do these women move on when being married to a "somebody" is windind down or do players go off the rails.
they earn a decent amount to keep them comfortable for life then lose it all in costly divorces,

Does every thread on the Oatcake have to turn into a blazing row? I wasn't having a row or singling anyone out, just observing how attitudes to criminal justice seem to change depending on the offender. There was a thread on here not so long ago about a biker who was stupid enough to get killed doing twice the speed limit (and film himself in the act); there wasn't much sympathy for him or talk of any mitigating circumstances and rightly so.

On benefits but can afford 'Merlin the Magician' as a lawyer and a Merc that can do 140mph. I'm glad I bother my arse to go to work in my crappy Peugeout that can probably just reach 100mph (downhill and with a following wind) to pay my taxes otherwise goodness knows how he would cope.

Driving at 140mph. I have no sympathy at all. He should be given a very long ban and probably prison. We all speed a little bit, but at 140 he is putting lives in danger and needs to learn the error of his ways. As for not seeing his kids, well he should've thought of that when he put his foot on the gas

Don't footballers have a very good pension scheme?

He's clearly a fucking idiot.
The man has been a professional footballer for nigh on 20 years. He's been paid an absolute fortune for near enough fuck all - fewer than 300 appearances in that time - and he's pissed it all away.
Exemplary behaviour for a supposed devout Christian.

I'm welling up here.
I honestly can think of nothing better to motivate me to go work, than that I get to pay my taxes to pay benefits to a stupid feckless ex-footballer who has pissed away the fortune he earned and has just been busted for driving at life endangering speeds.
One can feel sympathetic for the situation he is in but as it is entirely of his making he deserves no personal sympathy whatsoever. What a twat.

Fucking wow he was caught speeding (a victimless crime) and some on here are ready to convict of crime of the century. Ex pro now skint probably due to a money grabbing woman and numerous hangers on. Good luck Carlo I hope your luck changes and you get something sorted quickly. Gouranga.

Gouranga. how is him going at twice the speed limit anything to do with "Luck" exactly???? especially when he'd been done only weeks earlier for speeding as well! last year over 3,000 people died due to people speeding...victimless crime my arse! just because he didn't kill anyone doesn't make it ok. it's like saying "Yes your honour, i appreciate that swinging a machete around my head randomly in a busy high street is against the law but i didn't catch anyone with it"

Died due to speeding my fucking arse, what happened did they suffocate due to lack of air at high speed? I speed all the time and it's not killed me. Gouranga.

88mph then 140mph, nob head, no sympathy for him he is lucky to escape jail. Just because he played for Stoke that seems to give him hero status in some peoples eyes. The guy is a nob and as a family man should know better.

Am I right in also thinking that Mr. Nash has found the Lord? Travelling at that speed I doubt even the Lord could have got away so my guess is yes.
