Nowhere near quick enough in my opinion and something he has to work on. Our entire game plan is based around hitting teams on the counter when they're high up the field and I've lost count of the number of times he's allowed the opposition to drop back and re-gain their shape before releasing the ball to someone. Hughes was doing his nut about it on the touchline on Monday and he didn't look to pleased about it today either.

N'zonzi has a habit of breaking down our own attacks and giving the oppo chance to regroup as well.

Agree with that, he seemed to get out of the habit of doing that in the final few months of last season but the habit seems to have reappeared in a number of games this season. To his credit though I actually thought he was one of our better players today. Whelan was a contender for MOTM against Newcastle on Monday but I thought he was below par today.

I wonder if Whelan has some fitness issues. He was one of the few first teamers who didn't even make the bench at Sunderland in the Cup game. He may have a problem which stops him from playing two games in a week.

He's been outstanding this season but he gave the ball away on a number of occasions today, especially in the first half. Prior to today I think he had the second or third best pass success rate in our squad so it was definitely an off day by his standards.
