Well it was hamstring, probably a few weeks out. Just hope he doesn't become prone to them because I believe it's a possibility it can go again and again once it's gone.

I posted on here when we signed him and moses that the only thing that worries me about these quick players is hamstrings. A lot of quick players seem to get them. I remember Michael owen when he was young getting them. .
Then some smart dick posted 'oh we best just sign slow players then'. That wasn't my point.

I hear Charlie Adam is one of the leading lights in this form of the game, although he can still only last 60 minutes......

So he will be out but how long is not long Simply measure it against a piece of string, then you'll know exactly how long it is

Stoke were today assessing the results of scans for both striker Mame Diouf and midfielder Charlie Adam. Diouf pulled up with a hamstring injury midway through the first half of Monday's victory, while Adam suffered a knock on his leg in the first few exchanges before soldiering on until the 61st minute. Both are early doubts for Saturday's trip to Sunderland link

I'm really concerned about the Diouf injury if it is a hamstring.
There are footballers who happen to also be quick and sprinters who happen to also be able to play football and Diouf is definitely in that "fast-first" category for me.
Each time you damage a hamstring it leaves scar tissue. It just does. The medical team will try to keep the scarring to a minimum through massage and ultra sound treatment but scarring there will be.
Once you have damage the hamstring will always be a little more vulnerable to going again than it was previously. You have to manage that situation and it can mean you just can't go flat out the way you used to without risking further damage.
If raw pace is your calling card then that is not good news.
Anyway lets hope it is relatively minor and Diouf is shortly once again lighting up the play with his coruscating pace!

Ryan Giggs once said that after successive hamstring injuries, he never ran at full pace. He said something like he hadn't run at a full sprint since about 2003. Seemed to work for him.

Michael Owen was on Goals on Sunday recently talking about the hamstring injury which he suffered very early in his career and arguably stopped him becoming an even better player than he was.
He reckoned that had he been playing now, it wouldn't have affected him as badly as it did back in 1999 because treatment and recuperation techniques are so much better these days.

Maybe so, but Michael Owen was absolutely prolific up to that point. Even at Real Madrid where he only made a dozen or so starts, his goal scoring record was excellent. He was never the same after that injury at WC2006.

Chamberlain always had hamstring problems. Yes I believe he first pulled one at the Munich Agreement in 1938 when Hitler kicked him in the back of his leg to persuade him to sign. He never really recovered and had to retire in the first few months of WW2.
