If Arnie had half of Glenn Whelans effort and fitness we would have a great player....problem is he doesn't. Looked unfit tonight and showed how frustrating he can be by wandering around while other players covered for him....sorry to disagree with most of you but Crouchy, who must be ten years older, puts him to shame. how many times did he cover? Who made more tackles than any other player? Yes he struts around thats his personality. However not many other players can do some of the things he does.

He was very lazy at times in the second half in not tracking back. Yet we saw some moments of brilliance too I though going forward.

Took a while to get going, a few shocking passes to start with but two excellent shots, one off the post, one blocked. He woke up a bit and his first touches put the whole team on the front foot. Much better, but needs to keep at it. The magic is yet to come!!

50/50 for me today, big improvement though on his other appearances this season, still more to come.

I thought he was poor for large parts. There's very rarely any end product from Arnie.
Though he did brilliantly in the last 10 minutes with running the clock down.

I think you have to be patient with him. He did some good things and he probably wasn't helped when his first touch of the ball was greeted with as audible a groan as I think I've heard at Stoke. I don't know if anybody has mentioned that on this thread before, but I thought that was a shocking way to treat a player who is clearly a confidence player who made a small mistake.

He's class - his performances are improving steadily and he will hit top gear in due course providing he gets the game time......
Some of the meat n taters brigade need to get off his back - he's enigmatic and has an edge to his character and heaps of potential and i for one am happy to wait for it to develop ......not everyone's cup of tea and I get that - just give him time and support.....

Many times he does my head in. But enjoyed his performance tonight , pity his shot hit the post , would have done him the world of good if that had gone in

In the last 20 minutes I saw him tackling on the Stoke byline, trying to run down time on the Newcastle right byline and then the Newcastle left byline. Arrogant? Maybe, lazy? Definitely not

Arnie started one of our best attacks from our penalty area, getting the ball out with a perfectly weighted pass with no hint of panic or desperation, ten seconds later we have a shot on goal. Love Arnie, you doubters, and let his confidence grow!

I prefer him on the left than the right but he was unlucky with a few chances tonight. He doesn't look 100% fit to me though.

Looked like he was dead on his feet with about 15 minutes to go, although he perked up when he actually had the ball at his feet. But I saw enough to think we need him back in the first team as soon as possible, though whether that's an option if Diouf is fit, I've no idea.

No ones on his back, hes been very poor until today, I think its fair enough to point that out as it would be if it was anyone else in the team.

I've been supporting Stoke 50 years & I can't recall a more frustrating player. Everytime he gets the ball you expect something from him as you know the ability is there but he lets you down time & time again. He must have LMH tearing his hair out.

I thought last night was a massive step in he right direction - and the first time he's flickered into life this season.
He played really well between the 45th and 75th minutes - but looked like he was struggling to breathe for the last 15 minutes and was pretty much dead on his feet.

Had a decent spell at the start of the 2nd half. He really needed a goal to boost his confidence.

IF they had managed to pick out the right ball their left back was free at the back post on more than one occasion.

We saw him getting back to his best last night. Involved in play and played some decent balls. I don't doubt by the end of October we'll be back to the Arnie we all know and love. Hopefully with plenty of arrogance.

Unusually, it was his work rate that impressed me more than anything else. Good to see him working hard even if he isn't quite firing on all cylinders. Still massively improved though but should have done better when one-on-one with their back line a couple of times.

Divisive? I don't think so. He did show some fantastic play, we saw some hard work, we saw some petulance and we saw him not tracking back at times in the second half. He was not working as hard all game as some seem to think and thats something we have to accept I guess. But its all about opinions isn't it.
I think with him we have seen we are going to get brilliance, some outrageous skill, arrogance, laziness in one performance and thats why he's playing for us and not a top 4 team.
