As this game approaches I am getting increasingly nervous about the amount of hype about Newcastle, their manager, owner, and some players and its potential impact on all associated with Stoke.
Stoke need to approach this match by first ensuring they keep a clean sheet, which IMO means picking the regular back 7, and not making risky changes. Muniesa was great going forward last week but left the left side of the defence very exposed at times; picking him to score goals is not wise.
MH needs to go with his regular forwards Crouch, Diouf and Moses plus whoever he considers fits best with them for this match/opposition, but if it isn't working by half time then introduce changes sooner than he has so far this season.

really looking forward to watching this at the brit tonight I just hope the team share my enthusiasm. I'm going for a 2-1 win with Castle taking the lead for Diouf and Shawcross scoring our goals. My team for tonight would be: Bego Pieters - Huth - Shawcross - Bardsley Assiadi - Zonz - Sidwell - Whelan - Moses Diouf Bench - Butland, Wilson, Muni, Ireland Arnie, Bojan, Crouch. Leaves Diouf slghtly isolated playing 3 CM's but I'd like to see how we play with this sort of set up, Moses and Assiadi will be key to how we do tonight as will the Zonz IMO. Could only get a ticket in block 19 for tonight so I'll try to slow the pace down of the happy clappers 12th man out tonight lads! GOARNNN STOKE!!!

Sorry if someone has already put this but not really read through properly...Muniesa or Pieters? For me they're both solid footballers, they've both taken to the way of playing in this country instantly, they both throw everything at it and neither of them is afraid to get dirty...I don't know who I'd pick, just wondering what people thought?

Yep, Newcastle performed well at Palace in their last outing and we should proceed with caution. I think we should concentrate on keeping a clean sheet and not expect to be overpowering or dominant. If we have the right approach, Newcastle will end up coming out to get the three points and the chances will come for us, but we don't need to be going into this game being desperate to win at all costs, if we are patient and cautious the three points will come

Bardsley Ryan Wilson Muniesa
Whelan N'Zonzi
Arnie Bojan Moses
Diouf I'd go: Huth in for Wilson Crouch in for Bojan - 4-4-1-1 formation Was going to take Arnie out (after his last performance) but if he plays shit then we can take him off quickly, rather than bring him on later and risking that he'll be shit for the rest of the game.

This gives us the opportunity to get at them on the counter. I'm very nervous about this game... more nervous than I have been for a long time. I can see us both winning by 3 or 4 or getting thumped, with Newcastle pulling out a stormer of a performance from somewhere.

Diouf Wouldn't be shocked at Muniesa getting another go, Tom but I still fancy he'll stick with Pieters and use Diouf wide and Ireland in the middle. Can't see Crouch not starting.

The last time we lost a midweek home league game was Monday 31st October 2011, the opposition was Newcastle.

Muniesa and Ireland will start for Pieters and Adam; otherwise as you were. We need to be patient and look for chances to hit them at pace, not just resort to thumps up to Crouch. Their defence is not great, and Diouf and Moses should trouble them.

I think Charlie would be great for this kind of game. If we can get the ball to Diouf, Crouch and Moses and get them to run at the Newcastle Defence and force them to drop deeper, there will be space for Charlie to pick up the ball, run at them and, hopefully create chances or have an effort, whereas Ireland would just look to turn over possession and look to play cute football. Overall, we need Charlie for this one as he can hurt deep-lying defences.
