I am a Stoke City supporter from sunny San Diego. (It rained here once - it was awful.)
I recently purchased a Stoke City Pennant from Ebay. And, I was really proud of winning the auction. I must have placed like 4 or 5 bids to win it. So, when my daughter told me it arrived in the mail, I was really excited. But, when I got home, I found out it was really small (like Hobbit small). I guess I should have checked the dimensions of the auction. It's about the length of a pencil - but pennants in the states are much longer by comparison.
My question is this: Does anyone know how old this is?
I am hoping its like a rare, old collectible, given the bids on it. I am attaching a pic below. Thanks in advance. (By the way, I ended up hanging it next to my player card of Geoff Cameron, which is a lot larger.)

I'd say it is 8 years old because it has 8 stripes. I'm fairly sure you use the same method for Pennants as you do Trees anyway.

Welcome aboard calforniaphil!
A couple of points:
- I thought this thread was going to be about Jermaine (Pennant)! - have been to San Diego once many years ago. Remember three main things about it: - got begged to attend an Admiral's retirement do (down at the docks) - free drinks and all (we were in t-shirts and shorts). Don't think he was that popular with his underlings. - went to a student bar, quite trendy - and they had a drinks menu. On it they had "Shandy". Which was described as a sophisticated English drink. - attended a MLB baseball match there - people were very generous (gave us free tickets). After nine inning the Padres won 1-0. It was as boring a sporting event I think I have ever been to (and remember: I watched the binary season).
Oh, and BTW, I have no idea about your pennant!

However, it also implies that you still make pennants this small, which I find shocking. Although it is said that all European made things are smaller (shirts, shoes, ladies breasts, etc..), don't you think this is all getting just slightly out of hand?

However, that is because most the English people living here are ManU supporters. So, we are terribly misinformed. (However, I totally agree with you about baseball. Even my kids won't go with me to see a game anymore.)

Oh - and the other thing to add - was it was the only place in the States where people couldn't understand my accent (Stoke/south Cheshire and not too strong): was in a bar and had to get a couple of Aussies to translate/repeat what I was saying. Great city though. Just like Stoke. Well, with better weather. And a beach. And a harbour. And Mexico next door. And no SCFC. So, I think you got the shitty end of the stick!

Well, there's a lot of Americans I can't understand. But, I couldn't agree with you more. I live 7 miles from the ocean in a place which had the most sunny days in the world at one point. But, I still wish I was going to a football game during a rainy day in Stoke!

I'm heading there next weekend. Are there many bars that show Stoke games? I might be there (need to check my flight) for the Stoke-Newcastle game monday lunchtime.

Are you going to be staying Downtown? One of the bars there for certain will be showing it. I am sure other parts of the city will be having them as well. Since that game is at noon (and not 5AM!!!), you should be fine for a lunch time game. I "might" be able to join you. I have to go into the office that day - but could try telling the boss I am taking a long lunch or some such.

Yeah, I'm staying downtown (5th Ave just off W Broadway)...my flight is at 4.33pm, so I might just be able to get the game in!

But, what did I expect: they mailed it from Poland! Cool that you liked the zoo. Mission Bay is also nice. I assume you went to Sea World. They almost arrested that Steve-O guy from the Jackass movies (I think he's also English) from putting Sea World Sucks on the freeway sign there recently. I think he did it to protest the use of whales.

Tomorrow, I am going to check with some other friends of mine about a place downtown. (I haven't been to a place there for a game. And, I know a few off hand but I want to be sure. I should also be able to join you there.)

Okay, I have it under good authority that you want to go to either the Princess of Wales (1665 India St, San Diego, CA 92101) or the Shakespeare Pub (3701 India St, San Diego, CA 92103). Of the two, the Shakespeare gets better reviews.

Went to San Diego a few years ago, awesome place and really good for night life. Well worth a hop over the border to Tijuanna in Mexico, if you do go try to see the legendary Zonkey....Actually just a Donkey with black and white stripes painted on it, looks funny as fuck when it rains.....

Still none the wiser regarding the pennant? Well, we have determined that the FC is on the wrong end of Stoke City and it did come from Poland. So, it's origins are questionable. But, it's real old, which is very fitting for one of the oldest football clubs in the world!!!
I will probably be on my death bed when I find out it was some youngsters art project.

The downtown night life is pretty crazy. I was down there once at a cigar bar with plenty of people inside and people walking around outside. The manager came over and said we all had to leave because it was like 2 AM in the morning. But, with all the people around it felt more like 8PM.
Even though Mexico is right next door, no one goes over there anymore - not even the Mexicans. There is too much cartel activity with them killing anyone and everyone. (One cartel guy they found wearing someone's spine as a necklace. Curiously, it was a short spine, so it could have been a ManU fan.)
