Pelligrini: "Chelsea played like a small team that were only interested in defending, like Stoke." Not sure if this is a back handed complement. Or not ? Fuck him!!!! We beat them fair and square. Can I detect the distinctive taste of sour grapes by any chance?

Heard this on Talksport earlier. Michael Calvin was wetting himself in the studio and said "That won't please people in the Potteries". Anyone would think he's upset a few people previously...

Well we are a small team, no shame in that. We defended well and won on the counter-attack. What does Pellegrini expect ? that we go to the Etihad and boss them around ? Pellegrini should remember that just one of their players costs as much as practically our whole squad (we goe 7 players pratically on a free this year, remember?). But in truth I believe that his jibe was not aimed at Stoke at all but at Chelski and what he meant to say was that he would expect a big team like chelsea to face them openly and not to park the bus as a lesser team is justified to do

You would have thought Pellegrini would have been used to the standard blueprint for the away teams' tactics at the Etihad. Morinho demonstrated it perfectly last season and Hughes embellished it a fortnight ago. It was no surprise that Jose would try to repeat the same tactics that have proven to be successful. TBH I thought Stoke defended better than Chelsea did today. The most expensive player in our team cost £10million, which is small change compared to the half a billion pounds he can put on the pitch at any one time. It's a bit 'rich' that he moans that other teams try to level an unlevel playing field by stopping him showing off the talent at his disposal.

I just love it when we leave in our wake a line of bleating big name managers all complaining that if it hadn't been for Stoke this, Stoke that etc. Shame.

It was said on the radio the other day that he was showing the pressure getting to him. They said he used to be quite and keep himself to himself when he first came, but lately is saying stuff all over the place and getting involved in stuff.

Amazing how precious we are. We are a small team compared to Citeh and we did go to defend. We did it superbly and won the game of football.
It's a throw away comment from another manager who hasn't won a game. Why people get upset about this is beyond me.

Blimey, our win is still eating at him - he could turn out to be more fun to hate than Mancini.

Praised him the other week. Obviously another big team Charlie, who thinks they have a divine right to beat clubs like ours'

Heard the interview......Malteser68 got it spot on......dig at Chelsea, and in particular Mourinho......Their hatred runs back to La Liga days when Mourinho replaced Pellirini at Real, and the Real board told Pelligrini he wouldnt have been sacked if Mourinho hadnt have been available.

And not much wrong in that. Every team plays to the best if it's abilities and adopts the strategy which it deems to be most suited taking into consideration the strengths and weaknesses of your opponent

Teams like Stoke have to do what we did at their place, but Chelsea with their money should be able to have a go at places like Man City etc.
