Is it time to put Butland in goal? Begos positioning for the free kick was a joke and his star jump for the goal was laughable!!

Not as laughable as Shawcross's and Nzonzi's attempt to stop Caulker heading it, and Crouch's clearance into the net though was it - or Sidewell's daft tackle. Try looking at the causes if you want to stop stupid goals. By all means try Butland - I don't think he would have done any better, but he might.

He'll be playing in the cup, if he puts in a decent performance then you never know - it's a bit early to be talking of dropping Begovic though.

Has looked slightly off-colour but we are not (and shouldn't be) even close to dropping him.

He left his head in Brazil. Still smothering from the disappointment of early exit in the WC and thd fact that no big club came knocking on his door

Bad positioning for the goal which could have been saved
why no defender on the line, points thrown away .

For all the good work that's been done, there are still far too many mistakes being made. Much as we should have won that today, we shot ourselves in the foot yet again. We need somebody on the goal line with Bego at free kicks!

Bego needs somebody to compete with him otherwise he's just going to get complacent. Even if he doesn't get outright replaced he needs that threat hanging over him because he's just not looked up for it since the world cup.

I think Bego has been poor this season, at least 3 of the goals that we have conceded have been at least partly down to him - Against Villa, he should have kept their winner out, Against Hull, he should have held onto the ball or pushed it wide instead of to the feet of Jelavic and today, his positioning for the free-kick was all wrong. You could even argue that their first goal was partly down to him as he should have commanded his six-yard box. I think if Butland has a good game on Tuesday and Bego looks shaky over the next game or two, Butland should get the nod imo.

Bego hasn't started the season very well to be fair, he hasn't faced many shots in the first 5 games but still conceded 5. Positioning for the goal was laughable, he needs competition.

I think its the poorest start to a season that Bego has had since he became our number 1.
But I wouldnt drop him after 5 games.

I have said it in the past and I will say it again being a keeper you are taught for a direct free kick, within shooting distance, you set your wall to protect one side of the goal. You then position yourself to protect the other side of the goal. If a player manages to get the ball up and over the wall and back down again from 20 yards you can only take your hat off to him and say Tek a boo son. If Begovic had however been beaten on the side that he was covering all blame goes to him and it's poor goalkeeping!
On this occasion it was a great free kick by krancjar!

It's a great fee kick in off the bar as well and people saying put a man on the line, even that wouldn't help with a free kick like that. You do have to take your hat off to kranjcar for the free kick.

Im not disputing that GK is not our biggest worry, what I am saying is that Bego has conceded an unusual amount of soft goals this season and because of that, I think Bego needs resting for a couple of games IF this trend of conceding soft goals continues. Just because he is possibly the best keeper in the league, it doesn't mean that he should be playing if he is out of form and maybe just the mention of dropping could help him get his act back together.

I personally thought bego couldn't do anything with the free kick. It was a fantastic strike, if kranjkar had gone for the opposite corner folk would have said why is he standing so far behind the wall! I just think it's a fantastic free kick.

He's not started the season well, I don't think dropping him is inconceivable. Butland needs to start Tuesday, and if he performs then Hughes has something to consider.
I think we'll financially regret not selling Bego this past summer. He's probably peaked in value at the end of last season.
