Yes, Wembley allegedly beat off competition from the Allianz Arena in Munich. However press reports say the German's effectively stood aside on the premise that the English federation would back their bid to stage the tournament in its entirety in 2024. Have to say I'm not comfortable with this kind of horse trading, surely it is the job of the venue selection committee to simply pick what they consider the best venue for each competition based on its merits rather than do deals under the desk

Group Stages - 3 games in:
Munich, Baku, St Petersburg, Rome, Copenhagen, Bucharest, Amsterdam, Dublin, Glasgow, Bilbao, Budapest and Brussels
Last 16 games held in: Copenhagen, Bucharest, Amsterdam, Dublin, Glasgow, Bilbao, Budapest and Brussels
Quarter Finals in Munich, Baku, St Petersburg and Rome
Semis and Final in London at Wembley
Cardiff misses out altogether - but a decent day out at Hampden or in Dublin if you fancied it! Amsterdam/Copenhagen not too far away on the ferry Brussels on the Chunnel

Yeah it was Wembley vs Allianz - but these deals are always the norm
Weren't the Germans pissed off that we bid for the WC2006 after they stood aside for us to host Euro 96?
For the money it costs to bid and host I wouldnt bother - and a trip to France/Germany/Spain is preferable to Russia or some other hellhole of corruption across many parts of Europe!

Bit of a mare for the teams and fans that progress, having to keep upping sticks and boarding planes.
Probably still smaller (geographically) than Brazil though so perhaps it isn't too bad...

I actually like this idea on paper. There's a good representation of nations across Europe in the hosts and it'll be a nice experiment.

Ridiculous that Scotland and Dublin get 4 games each and a great city and stadium like cardiff doesn't get one

Will each group venue host one group or are fans expected to schlep around game by game?

I'm pleased to see they've decided to host a few games in an oil rich Asian country. It was about time the European Championships stopped being so bloody Eurocentric.

Is this just for Euro 2020 or will all Euro's be like this now? Hopefully just 2020. Just for 2020 isn't it,to celebrate 60 years of the competition.

Just for 2020 isn't it,to celebrate 60 years of the competition. What's the point of that? For a start, 60 years is not even an interesting anniversary. What will they do for the 80-year anniversary? Spread the games between Afghanistan and Michel Platini's local underground car park?

Wish we weren't. Couldn't be bothered about it. Some token gesture to shut us up for a bit. Hoping we don't delve any deeper into their corruption.

Why is Euro 2020 being held in several countries, and not just 1 host nation, 2016 is France, and I see that Munich's Allianz Stadium withdrew from the bidding to host any 2020 games to enhance Germany's bid for 2024, but 2020 is somehow different.
