Not convinced by this, for the 20+ shots! we did not break them down or get behind once, same can be said for Villa, I would argue they had the best 2 chances and scored one of them! It's one thing to do what we did at man city and sneak one on the break, but if we don't work out how to break teams down at home and soon, then we are going to struggle this season. Teams have got us got beat very easily at home, solid back 4 with 2 holding, we need to be wider and use pace!! Spot on.

I just felt we got the team wrong from the start.
With Diouf fatigued, Arnie should have come in with SJW in the middle.
And then when we were chasing the game the decision to take off SJW who was the only player giving them problems to replace him with Assaidi was another error. SJW should have stayed on the pitch, but if LMH really wanted to replace him then Arnie should have come on.

Played so well, yeah, hokey dokey. You don't half talk some horse shit He's gone just move On You keep saving face mate and not say what's pointing you right in it. Reminded me pretty much of when John Carew got two against Sunderland many moons ago.

You were more than happy for the pace to be systematically stripped from the squad over a period of years but now you are slating the fact it wasn't used today I'm confused

Hughes doesn't seem to know what to do at home so why not criticize him for it?. Oh, I know why - save face n all that.

We seem to have become a counter attacking away side who have no plan for beating packed defences at home.
I have a suggestion for our highly paid coaching staff. Set pieces are the most productive method of scoring goals. Ours have been woeful for 12 months in spite of us have some of the tallest players in world football. Spend every single minute this week in training preparing set pieces.
And if you can't get it right, then appoint David Kemp just for coaching set pieces as he is the best in the world at them.

March is bang on when he says our system is best suited to counter attacking football and maybe home games are going to be a struggle all season on the evidence of the 1st 2 home games.

Absolutely bang on. At man citeh I thought we could actually score another couple after we took the lead. Our last two home games we haven't come anywhere near to scoring as we can't get behind teams. We will tear newcastle a new one with how they play

We need to stop blaming the ref every week. We are behind because we didn't take our chances, which ultimately means we are not good enough. I don't blame the ref for us losing. But he was monumentally shite today. Couldn't wait to blow up against us at every opportunity Nonsense

Training ground - corners... Now. We had a thousand of them today and they were all wank. Were you there? In the first half moses fired in some great corners unfortunately crouch didnt take advantage of them

I hate to say it, but Bojan up front has been a struggle again. He's a striker not a 10 I would try 4-4-2 with bojan playing with crouchy up top, like the way crouch and Defoe played at Pompey and spurs

It looked like we battered them on TV highlights. Only 3 goals conceded is a fine start of the season from our defence.
With new faces on show, it always takes a while for understandings to grow, especially up front. Keep the faith.

Our set pieces have been bad for a lot longer than Mark Hughes.

Not really, Bojan took up Ireland's spot in the hole, the 2 midfielders sat far too deep leaving a massive gap that bojan kept dropping into looking for the ball. Far too 1 sided in the 1st half, we didn't get it to moses anywhere near quick enough so when he did get it they'd doubled up on him. N'Zonzi seems to have gone back into his ultra defence shell (That 1 run aside), it's the most I've seen whelan attack for us. No threat through the middle and doubled up on the wings meant we gave sod all threat in the end.

We're all great managers after the fact. So here's my punt. Adam should have been bought on for Nzonzi and Arnie for Bojan. Both of these players, especially Adam can turn a game. Adam can play killer passes AND isn't scared of shooting, Arnie's creativity could have gleaned us easier opportunities. It's all moot now though, we just have to hope that Hughesy takes my advice!!
