Fishing for the likes of Burley and Robson - all managers with better records than Pulis at the time. Peter Coates deserves the ultimate credit for backing the right man. So you are another one who'd go back in time and choose not to re-appoint Tony Pulis after Boskamp left?

I think the title of the thread is very apt. Goal on Sunday. Did you miss the 'S' off on purpose, in total tribute to the great man? Surely "Goal in a month of Sundays" would be more apt

Crouch and Palacios was the turning point. But should a slightly sour ending really tarnish what an absolutely outstanding job he did at a club who went from a struggling CCC side to an established top flight club in a few short years? It doesn't detract from the wonderful job he did for 4/5 of his time here but it can't be stricken from the records either. Credit where it's due one million per cent but the criticism towards the end was richly deserved as well, and the expenditure was a huge factor in him being given his cards. I think fundamentally we agree. I agree he should have gone but the pure shit spouted about him is insulting to the man. Forest fans don't hold their relegation against Clough do they? I think we should be able to look past the way it ended and give TP the ultimate respect. He will admit he's made mistakes and since he's left he's not said a bad word about the club. Edit: I'm not saying Pulis is anywhere near as good as Clough but equally his reign didn't end anywhere near as badly.

We stagnated under Pulis and it was the right time for him to move on. Doesn't take anything away from his achievement. And judging by his performance at Palace it was a good split for us both Definitely and I don't think anyone would disagree with that. But this whole thing about money being irrelevant is utter bull because in the end it's one of the reasons he was sacked! It can't have been that irrelevant. I fucking surrender. The worst thing that ever happened to SCFC in its 150 year old history was the appointment of Tony Pulis, it's promotion to the Premier League, world wide recognition and massive profit for its owners

And despite all of that he was sacked....why? That's all that I am saying, I haven't said that he hasn't been good for the club, in fact I've said the opposite! Another

Why are we here Bayerm? This is the man who succeeded where Mills Macari Jordan Macari Bates Kamara Little Megson Thordasson Coterill Kemp and Boskamp failed.
He took us to the top flight. He established us when we were given no chance. He took us to our first ever FA Cup final in 150 years. He took us back to Europe
He deserved respect not this ridicule.

We all know why he fucked off.......like here, he wanted millions to spend on proven premiership players (don't like looking elsewhere does tone), and palace (sensibly) weren't prepared to put the club at risk!!! Yep ok Glad you agree owd!!!

He's getting respect but I think there will always be this debate when it comes to him, that's what I'm on about. If you don't think that's toxic then fair enough but I do and I don't like it.

As was Bobby Robson at Newcastle But Robson was at a club that sees themselves as massive and was underachieving. TP according to you was still making us money and doing well, why was he sacked if that was the case? Back to Robson, I can only remember his latter efforts as a manager, I was never impressed. I can't remember Italia 90. Sir Bobby Robson, the four time Dutch, Portuguese, Barcelona, and England semi finalist manager, sadly passed away today from lung cancer A knight of the realm, Bayern Oatcake was quoted on his passing, and summing up his legacy, working and schooling one of the most respected managers in the world, Jose Mourhinio, as 'I was never impressed'. Bring forth the rolling emoticon!

In my football life he wasn't very good and when I was younger I didn't really have a clue what he had done....I didn't care because quite frankly I was young and he was nothing to do with Stoke historically. It's a similar sort of feeling I have towards Liverpool, in my lifetime there're a mediocre side, to someone born 10 year they're the elite. I know better now but when he was a manager at that time I can remember, yes I was never impressed because well he did pretty shit and made baffling decisions....it's why he sacked. Obviously in time I know this not to be the Bobby Robson of the 80's and early 90's.

'Papa Football' loved the game, and had and such a kind, infectious attitude towards the game. Have a look on YouTube for his later interviews. You won't be able to not love the man.

I just remember and I'm going to quote my younger self "a bumbling old idiot" when he was there. And indeed now having grown up and learning a hell of a lot more about the game I know that, that was an absolutely foolish thing to think.

He made such humongous cunts of the wanskstain fraternity for so long, I suppose you can't blame them for celebrating so long and hard following his demise.
As many have said, history will treat Pulis very well but his detractors will be painted as utter fucking morons, just like the 'Waddo out' mob 40 years ago are now.
