I think we all need to tip our hats to the recruitment team after this window, we got our business done nice and early, wich is such a refreshing change, and hardly speant aything, we brought in quality on frees and did it before all the panic buys came around.
Getting rid of the TP panic buy legacy proved to be a tall order and I do not think this was down to lack of effort from the team, more the case of very poor or average players on silly money, not willing to take a pay cut (and why would they) and also the fact of no one wanting them. Looks like we are going to have to let them wind down their contracts, wich is part of the bad side of TP and the early transfer panic buys.
Now I think once this happens how exciting our recruitment team will really be, we have seen what they can a acive with limted funds, think of what they will be able to do when they have funds and wages freed up once the crap has gone, I for one am very excited.
Question is how much longer does the dead wood have left on their contracts? ??

Surely you can only be talking about Wilson Palacios?

Which early transfer buys were these? There can't be anyone who was panic bought from the early days left. The ones remaining are all from the era when Tony was being ultra careful with 'the family's' money and only searching for the right DNA.

As far as I can see, the only true "deadwood" on the books right now is Palacios, Shea and Ness. Everyone else is capable of contributing.
The club will be disappointed that we haven't got Palacios off the wage bill, but all in all we haven't done too badly.

Palacios has 12 months left I believe, as does Crouch who's not exactly deadwood but on big money and maybe moved on or be offered lowered terms at the end of the season.
Shea, Ness, Edu(?) were all on 4 year deals I believe so its a case of remembering just when exactly they came.

I am happy with the window with the exception of assaidi.
Look at the picture on the website, he clearly isn't happy being sent back here, I think he showed his intention with the wage demands he had.
Hopefully he will try harder to get a deal where he wants to be until the january window

He obviously wasn't in Liverpool's plans, and no one else seemed to want him. He should consider himself very lucky to come to us. We got behind him last season, and I sincerely believe that we can turn him into an even better player.

Palacios - cost us a lot of money, also costs us in wages but cant stay fit. hes been a massive let down but no body is going take his wage demands. Once his contract is expired I would be surprised to see another Premiership team come in for him. Brek Shea - A Big hype about him when he came here but failed to impress. I didn't actually get see too much of him to make an opinion of him but he's taking a wage from us for nothing so id rather him gone. Shotton - Wont see much of him no more, he is a Championship player in my opinion and would thrive there with game time. maybe Derby wanna keep him Sorrenson - Id class him as dead wood as he wont get a game for us, we will utilise Butland when we can. I love Sorro though his efforts helped keep us where we are. Wilko - My opinion Wilko is a Championship player and wont get a look at under Hughes, because he is so passionate about stoke and served over ten years for us fans wont want to see him leave us. Edu - On Loan in the MLS, a waste of a sighning only played one game for us. I believe he was either Free or very cheap but he still takes a wage. Jamie Ness - we had him as a Free from rangers, but hes only played 1 cup game and now on loan at Crewe after a spell at Leyton Orient even in league one hesw faield to make an impact. hes never going cut it in the premiership.

For me, Palacios and Ness are the only genuine deadwood. There's no reason Shea couldn't contribute if given some decent game time. Every time I've played I've thought he has 'something', it's just unlocking it.

The Palacios that played against Villa away last season wouldn't be a terrible thing to have in reserve.

Palacios - Contract will run down. Brek Shea - Will go out on loan. Wouldn't surprise me if he saw out his contract then moved back to the MLS. Shotton - Think he's technically signed a permanent deal, but they did it as a loan first so that he was available for their cup game the day after he signed. Sorrenson - Butland will go out on loan. Sorro will be no.2. Wilko - Squad player. Won't feature much but can come in as back up if we are seriously short. Edu - On Loan in the MLS, think they'll sign him on a permanent at the end of the loan. He's doing well for them I think. Jamie Ness - Already out on loan. Again, will probably see out his contract before ending up in league 1 or maybe back to Scotland.
