Don't forget that £45k-£50k a week (over £2m a year) should keep most of them happy sitting on the bench.

Cameron just retweeted this "Be strong enough to let go, and patient enough to wait for what you deserve." I'm guessing there were offers of first team football elsewhere but we turned the offers down. Stop being a mard arse Cameron. Let's nip this one in the bud.

Looking at it this way (and this is pure speculation I've pulled out of my arse) it doesn't seem too bad;
GK Bego number 1 Sorensen has to be happy with being back-up / cup keeper, else he'd have kicked off by now Butland will go on loan
RB Bardsley first choice Cameron we know doesn't fancy RB and is a bit pissed off, though being a utility man, his chance will come Wilko will go on loan, if he doesn't, he's Stoke through and through and will stay here come what may
CB Shawcross first choice Huth making his way back from injury and you'd think he'd be professional enough to understand he needs to wait his turn Wilson is a utility man, his chance will come Texieira is a young'un, you'd think he'd go on loan, if he doesn't he knows he'll have to wait
LB Pieters first choice Muniesa I'd personally prefer starting, but from his social media posts he loves it at Stoke, like seriously jizzes off it
Holding MF
Whelan is really our main scrapper, we haven't upgraded him so will likely stay there, possibly rotating with Cameron for cup games and the like Palacios might be included in the 25 man squad at the expense of Odemwingie due to the latter's injury, I couldn't give a fuck if Palacios gets pissed off, he's used to benchwarming anyway
N'Zonzi will always be first choice, fucking class Sidwell might come in for him on occasion in Cups or to give the Zonz a rest, Sidwell might get annoyed at being back-up but he's old, he was free and we've saved him from the Championship anyway
RW Odemwingie is injured Walters keeps forcing his way back in Assaidi, though a left player, played there for much of last season and will probably be in rotation with Walters
CAM (this is where it gets a little trickier) Ireland is bummed by the manager, you'd imagine he'd start most games if track record is anything to go by Adam is an awesome option to have from the bench, depends if he's happy doing this; I can see him coming on for 20 minutes most games Bojan... Well, he could be our best player. We all know his formative days and where he came from, I'd be doing everything possible to get him in, but remember he's here for four years, he must understand that given his loss of form we can't chuck him in straight away; he must also understand that we need to bed him in slowly over time.
LW Moses is fucking ace Arnie is fucking ace Let them battle it out, if there's not enough to decide between them then an all-cylinders Moses and an all-cylinders Arnie are both better than an all-cylinders Assaidi or Walters, so put one of them on the right.
ST Diouf is one player I fully believe we will be seeing more away than at home. His pace and power vs a higher defence will be fucking epic on the counter, see Saturday for example. Vs Villa and a congested defence, or ten-man Hull and another congested defence, we may well begin to rely on the technically awesome Bojan up front. Crouch has been mint so far. Hughes has shown he's not averse to a 442 which lends Crouch a hand, or if we're defending a lead he can hold the ball up excellently. Still not a fan of him as a lone striker but again, with rotation we'll be ace.
I don't think I've missed anyone out there, but as I've said on another thread, I'm sure that we'll have told each player exactly what we want from them. I don't think we'll have lied and said to two competing players that they're both first choice.
I also think we might have explained that we're going all guns blazing for one or both of the cups in order to get to Europe. Coates and Hughes have already said they want Europe again, and they could be deadly fucking serious about it; like it could actually be a serious target for the season.
If we do, then we're absolutely laughing with this awesome squad.

Should be riding in on a tank, the sun gleaming off his aviators as he shouts "FUCK YEAH", before lighting a massive cigar and pulling the charging handle on his AR15.

Not forgetting the January transfer window, of which by then if certain players are unhappy, they can either ask for a move or perhaps demand one if they're really unhappy. And I suggest that we will need to reinforce our choice of forwards if Moses, Assaidi and Diouf are off to the ACN That will be the time to offload a couple who hardly feature in the coming months. No worries from me

Saying that, I wouldn't mind him starting in midfield with N'Zonzi.

Surely that's Brek. Isn't it just a wanky Clinton's card-esque epithet Geoff's tweeted/posted {whatever}: Something along the lines of 'whatever happens take it on the chin'. No big issue for me.

Every club in the division has the same issue, so what? Begovic Bardsley Shawcross Wilson Pieters N'Zonzi Whelan Moses Bojan Assaidi Diouf Butland Wilkinson Huth Texeria Muniesa Sidwell Cameron Arnautovic Adam/Ireland Walters Crouch (Butland out on loan, Wilki and Tex will be alright) How the fuck do Stoke City keep them happy? It's not up to Stoke City to keep them happy. They keep themselves happy by busting a gut in training and playing to the best of their abilities every week and staying in the squad.

I'm also worried and yes although they earn mega bucks I do feel sorry for some players. Adam, who scored some amazing goals for us last season and is the only player I feel is capable of creating something from nothing is now well down the pecking order.
Sidwell i just don't understand why we signed him, isn't as good as Whelan Nzonzi or Adam, and I would struggle to even find a place on the bench for him most weeks.
Cameron was arguably our best player in the first half on last season and although he insists he isn't a right back, I would still say he's better than Bardsley at playing there.
Bojan needs to play! He has obvious talent and we can't just let him sit on the bench, if we got him scoring early on we could have an unbelievable player on our hands, if he doesn't start regularly I feel he will just peter out and be sold at the end of the season. He also has to play in the middle which means no place for Ireland/ Diouf/ Crouch
Arnie who we all love had two bad games at the start of the season, along with every other player in them games so why people are talking of him having some time of the bench is beyond me. Moses though does deserve his place at the moment, but arnie should be on the other wing.
Assaidi has been the main target for most of the transfer window and I suspect that we have given in to his wage demands, so I doubt that he is going to be seen as a regular on the bench.
One thing is for sure, Hughes needs to find his best team, and that team needs to start several weeks on the bounce together. Last year towards the end of the season the te basically picked itself, this year it's almost impossible to choose.

About trying to keep players who aren't starting happy? Sidwell, Bojan, Adam, Arnie Cameron ect won't be happy with a place on the bench. A few poor results and things could soon go tits up. We really needed to offload a few players this window to accommodate the new signings, and I'm not talking about Wilko or Palacios either. Ireland/Adam should have gone, 3 players for one position is too much. Cameron/Wilson/Huth should have gone for the same reason The five I've mentioned are players I admire as well but we need to trim the squad. For me outside of Bego and Shawcross no-one is indispensable anymore If they aren't happy about not starting then they need to put in a great performance when they get their chance. If there is one thing that Hughes has proved indisputably it is that he picks on form rather than reputation. No one (inc Palacios) should see themselves as on the outside looking in

I read somewhere that MH doesn't tend to have favourites (certainly not in the same way that TP did) and pretty much picks the team based on how well individual players trained or performed in the week. That's why we saw Crouch and Walters start against Citeh.
I don't think that there are any closed doors in this squad, or players frozen out. Geoffrey needs to get his head down, he'll get his chance.

Gonna bring this up rather than start a new thread.
My opinions on this haven't changed: we've got Sidwell who's hardly played on big wages, stories of Bojan flipping out over his lack of game time. The team looks disjointed. Does Hughes know his best XI?
We've regressed so much since last season it's untrue.
