Don't go overboard, a good 5 years of consolidation is needed in this league before you can start even thinking about top 10! they have got a Pulis-esque 5 year plan in place already that they started last seaon: 1st year = Get a Prem class managaer, play shit and blame it on the manager 2nd year = Get a World Class manager in, play shit then blame it on the fact that Fergie left them a shit squad 3rd year = Tell everyone it's a rebuilding job so they then have an excuse for being so shit 3 years in a row 4th year = Continue to "evolve" their game whilst underperforming after spending £630 million in one transfer window 5th year = Bring back Fergie out of pure desperation it's all (as a great man once said) about "Managing expectations"....you basically just lower them like mad for a few years then anything you do subsequently is seen as a "Step in the right direction" . piece of piss this managing lark! 6th year sack the purple nosed fart and bring in TP to save them.

Shawcross now 10/11 to stay at stoke and 2/1 to go to Manchester United. I'm certain he won't go Everton. Any number cruncher work a weighted "no lose" bet here?

Don't want to worry anyone unduly, but I work in Manchester and saw Ryan Shawcross at 12:45 pm today.
Admittedly it was only a picture of him on the Oatcake Fanzine page.

now being reported Man Utd. are in for Ron Vlaar as well.
it's deadline day people, no need to unnecessarily worry...everyone will be linked with everyone today!
i'd imagine Stoke are far too worried about replacing Wingie to be even considering letting our most important player and Captain go with just a few hours left to replace him as well (no way could i see anyone we currently have being an adequate, full time, regular replacement for Ryan so he would need replacing)
he's not going to be going anywhere

Am I missing some important vacuum cleaner news here or something? 16,000 watts yes OK...but 1,600? That wouldn't suck the skin off a rice pudding. Rice puddings saved by new EU law

It's gathering pace, but it's deadline day so I guess it would.
I'm surprised how enthusiastic Man Utd fans are at the prospect of signing a central defender who isn't 'international class' though.
Roll on 11pm.

I really don't like this rumour - it is picking up some insane pace and being reiterated by a lot of knowledgeable and reliable sources.
We could well be losing our Captain before the night is over!
Fingers crossed we don't.

Fingers crossed we don't. must admit i haven't seen any reliable sources quoting this...just people jumping on the back of some twitter comments. same happened last night with the Ryan to Everton rumour. if Ryan was sold with only hours left to go on deadline day then the whole board want sacking!!! NEVER going to happen, there'd be uproar to let him leave with no time to replace him (and no way in hell could any of the current CB backups replace Ryan as a regualr first teamer...not even close!!)

I know it's all deadline day rumour nonsense, a 10% chance of there being any substance to it, but this is everywhere now.
Anyone but Man United and I'd be calm, but if they put a serious offer in for Ryan would we stand in his way? I guess we'd have no choice but to block it.

If we get a bid between £20-25M would we reject it? Or maybe £20M + Smalling? Personally I think it's too risky selling him at this point of the window/season!
