Posted earlier... For the right money yes. He might want to go to further his England prospects. For the record, I know fuck all. Got me thinking this one, and for the right money I could see it happening too. A step up to Everton (and I use that term in the historical sense), playing alongside Baines would boost his England prospects no end. He's a proven top defender coming into his prime and he probably deserves more European action than he has seen. I think it all hinges on whether or not the Toffees can meet our valuation. Man U are missing Vidic (and that woeful back 3 - has to change to a 4 soon) and to a lesser extent Liverpool could also use a player like Ryan now. I'd guessed that Liverpool would be the most likely club, but perhaps not so now they have bought Lovren in, but Rodgers is looking for one more signing today. Furthermore, watching the WC at home must have hit Ryan hard this summer, particularly to be so far outside the England setup. Sadly, a move is the only realistic way to progress as an international. We all know he would probably have been in Brazil if he had been playing in one of the top English sides. However, we would be looking at a set of fairly unusual circumstances to let our Captain go on deadline day. That doesn't square up at all, particularly with how the club is run these days. Central defender/club captain business is usually sorted out well before deadline day. But if the right offer came in, i'm sure nobody at the club would begrudge Ryan his big career move. Pity Zaha has gone back to Palace if there's any foundation in the rumour. United's clear lack of a defence and the Odemwingie injury really adds an unexpected layer of complexity to what I was expecting to be a quiet day for us. Buckle up, strap yourselves to the mast, light 'em if you've got 'em etc..

This late in the window it would take a very large bid plus a player in return, can't see it happening somehow. FFS they haven't got a centre half we would want !!

Unless he wants go simply do not sell, tell then they can bid as much as they like and it will not sway us. We don't need to sell.

I think they'd need to double it before we'd even be willing to start negotiating. What Shawcross is worth in a vacuum is way lower than what Shawcross is worth to us.

I think that we would be stupid to even consider selling Shawcross, especially considering that we have only got one other out-and-out centre half at the club (and hes not 100%). However, if he did go, he would walk into that Man Ure team, first choice, every week and he is exactly what they DO need at the moment (instead of jizzing more money down the drain on more attacking players) , a no-nonsense centre-half who can do the basics right.

it was 2/1 to Everton last night until some scrote admitted he'd made it all up on twitter. odds can mean someone knows something....they can also mean that it's deadline day and people are likely to bet more on completely unsubstantiated rumours and therefore odds will be adjusted accordingly. completely the wrong day to properly view betting odds as a marker of accurate rumours..a few weeks ago fair enough but when there's only hours left then people go nutty and lump on at the slightest thing

I wouldn't even entertain 16 million. Start talking at 20 million, that's what Lovren went to Liverpool for.

Can you imagine if we ended this day when we thought not much would happen and all was well in the world with the double whammy of Odemwingie out injured for the remainder of the duration of his contract and our skipper and talisman, the rock on which we stand Ryan Shawcross heading up the M6 to Manchester and no sign of the cavalry? Talk about out of a clear blue sky! Mr. Coates and Mr. Hughes and Mr. Scholes simply would not preside over it. In short, it can't happen.

These Sky markets are generally a load of shit and moved by little amounts of money based on rumours from anywhere. Exactly mate. John Percy has said that Shawcross is not for sale, i would much rather put my faith in his words than Sky and their betting trends. People will have more luck visiting a gypsie fortune teller and asking where Shawcross is going than following betting trends based on hollow rumours.

On the subject of Fergie, it's great (for the opposition) that he still spends time every weekend going to watch his old club. I bet Moyes and now Van Gaal wish he'd find something else to do, other than to sit judging them from the stands.
Anyway, whilst a Shawcross departure is likely to happen one day, it won't be happening today.

Ryan Shawcross continues to be backed for a move - he's now 2/1 to join Man United today! -> sky.me/1q2x4ps
I'm pretty sure this is something of nothing whipped up by a combination of boredom and the original duff twitter link the other day.
