Sorry, but how have we got to a point where someone like that moody scouse payday yob is the captain of our International side?
Man U can keep him, do what they like with him. But as our national team's Captain, what the fooook is Hodgson thinking?

The issue of England's captain is indicative of the inane hyperbole surrounding the England team. It isn't important yet people bang on about it as if it carries relevance.

The current England team is full of illiterate mongoloids, so Rooney probably comes across as high-brow in team meetings.
Journalist : What do you think of being England captain
Rooney : Err, yeah its like great yeah
Journalist : What do you think of Englands chances of winning the World Cup in 4 years
Rooney : Err, yeah its like great yeah
Journalist : What do you think of the current situation in Ukraine
Rooney : Err, yeah its like great yeah
Thanks Wayne

It's a good question, Rooney fits the bill in terms of seniority but his character and ineffectiveness at international level and all round yobbishness just make me think that he's the wrong man. The players i'd like to see in the role didn't even travel to the WC. Of the players we took, Milner would be my Captain. Otherwise just give it to the GK.

Terrible decision. I bet a lot of past internationals are disgusted at the level English FA has dropped to.

I despise the way Rooney is made out to be the best English player. How this granny shagging caveman is the poster boy for our national team I do not know. He's a moaner, he's illiterate and he's as thick as pig shit. Possibly the worst kind of person I'd want to follow the lead of.

Lets face it, Woy only made Rooney captain, because he now has a reason not to drop him.

I could just about deal with David Beckham, and by jove he put a shift in, but Rooney?

i dont like captains as strikers however being captain could be the making of him for england - we can only see
he will now have to be interviewed before and after every game, his form at tournaments will come under even more scrutiny, this may be the kick up the arse he needs
however wayne as a footballer has not progressed as we keep getting told he has. sure he will be record goal scorer at utd but he has done that in an era and at a club that for a long time had some of the worlds best players and have created goals for him for fun, look how many goals cole scored there and he used to miss loads too
its a sad indictment that in a couple of years he will be englands leading international player with a record amount of goals, mainly scored against low level opposition in qualifiers and meaningless friendlies. every time we play brazil his and the ox's goal will be shown alongside john barnes yet when it really mattered he is found wanting.

Wayne doesn't do tournaments. England don't do tournaments. I know he's ours but England need someone exactly like Ryan. His attitude, presence and determination go beyond anything I saw in our England side in Brazil. A no nonsense defender, with limitations, who gives everything. It's been a while since we had someone like that in the heart of an England side. England need some of the Stoke toughness. The lad deserves his chance now, but Roy Hodgson and the FA's England setup are so governed by the commercial aspect of the game and the pressure that clubs like Man U & Chelsea and sponsors like Nike & Adidas exert on the FA. Wayne Rooney is just wrong, and Wayne's commercial image alongside Ronaldo, Messi, Suarez, Aguerro just illustrates that so clearly for me. He's not even in the top 20, let alone in the same company as those guys i've just mentioned. It's all commerce.
