Your first half 4-2-3-1 with Diouf higher up than Ireland sounds very close to 4-4-1-1. I suppose this is my point about systems - it's fluid and variable with and without the ball we maybe get too hung upon it. Interesting though - no idea what he'll do against Leicester. Presumably they'll play the in form Ulloa upfront, and try to get Vardy breaking from a packed midfield. Powell is an interesting signing for them too. I think they're massively important and the tiniest tweaks can have a huge impact on how a team performs and that's why they're important (or at least interesting) to debate. Personally I'd like to see us stick with two from Crouch, Bojan and Diouf - I think it suits the players that they are, rather than playing them as a '1'. I thought we looked much better second half than in the first on Saturday, both due to the switch in tactics and due to replacing Walters with Odemwingie. Against teams who play with a two man midfield, I see no reason why we can't go with 4-4-2 and against teams who play with a three, then I'd like to see 4-3-1-2 given a go - the same as Liverpool do. Conventional football wisdom suggests that you only play a '1' up front but maybe that is starting to change, as demonstrated by the top two teams in the Premiership last season.
