Most teams would struggle without their two most experienced CBs.
But we do have Cameron, Muniesa, Wilson and Teixeira which leaves us about as well stocked as all but the big boys

We would cope easily coz Ryan has been shit this season and for parts of last season.
Some (jonnybravo?) reckon he should be dropped anyway so if he was missing, it wouldn't be a problem.
Rolly eyes smiley thing whilst wondering what the fuck goes through the minds of some people at times!

it happened last season and we got through it Ryan missed one game last season against Fulham at home, when we could have put four cones out at the back and still won he game.

I'm not keen on Ryan plus one other from there for an extended period of time, but I guess it would make do.

I honestly think that of all our players Ryan is the most important and a prolonged spell out would see us struggle and struggle badly.

In fact it's absolutely fucking mental that anyone fails to comprehend it.

People often belittled him due to his use of the ball when in possession as some reason why he shouldn't feature at the highest level but since Hughes arrived we have also seen this is unfounded. Anyone thinking that Jones and Smalling (and now even fucking Chambers!) should be included in the national squad ahead of him needs sectioning in my opinion. If the cap fits, Mr Hodgson....

If we want to be a regular top ten side in the PL then we need a squad that is capable of producing results even with the loss of one or two of our best players, I think we now have such a squad.

It's not just our support, the rest of the footballing world don't seem to rate him, why would that be? I would prefer him any day to Jones and Smalling, but then I don't think they will survive for very long under the new regime at the shit. He is prone to mistakes just like any player, which rarely get mentioned on this board, because I assume he has enough credit in the bank. My view is he is a solid defender who gives his all for our Club, and a very important part of our DNA. So in answer to the thread, it would concern me greatly if he got injured, but I don't think it would completely finish us off.

You only had to look at the reaction on Twitter after the World Cup squad was announced to see how fans of other clubs rate him. It's going to take a long time for us to shake of the "hoofers" tag we got during Tone's reign.

Ryan Shawcross has a good reputation in English football and a lot of that is down to Tony Pulis.

I know you must have some sort of alert set up on here whenever anyone writes about him but it was referring to the indisputable fact that during TP's very successful spell here, that's the reputation our players have had levelled at them and as I said, that will take a while to shift. Ryan and several others are much better than that.

Hardly got a mention from the national media when he was excluded from the World Cup and recent squad,(I did not see the Twitter support from other fans) never hear of Clubs queuing up to buy him, prolonged fallout from that tackle perpetuated by both the media and the Arse. Taking my Stoke glasses off all points to the outsiders not giving him the same value as we do. I am bothered by that, no.

For me there are two reasons why Ryan isn't in the England squad: Our reputation under Tone (which once again for Geoff's benefit, isn't a dig) and the whole Arsenal thing where Wenger besmirched Ryan's character in what was effectively a comprehensive assassination. He is viewed by many who hang on the words of certain "influential" people in the game as merely a clogger which is utter, utter bullshit. Fergie admitted he made a mistake by selling him to us, that for me speaks volumes.
