Was just parking up in Oxford last night (working there at the moment) and a bloke walked past resplendent in a Stoke coat with a Stoke polo shirt underneath.
By the time I was able to shout 'Go on Stoke' (which is the norm when encountering fellow Stokies in alien environments) he had gone
Was that you ? And if so 'well played sir'

Yes. I met one on our last day in Canada. Made a point of going and shaking his hand and saying hello! Season ticket holder, like myself.

There's a Professor/Doctor at Oxford who's a Stoke fan. True story. Having googled him, pretty sure it's Astro (or something similar) that used to post on here!

Back in the 60s I had a sticker on the dash-board of my car that read:
STOKE CITY THE THINKING MAN'S TEAM
It brought a smile from quite a few passengers.

I have one in chemistry and my dad has one in hydrogeology. Also, my office mate is a New Yorker who follows Stoke a bit. I seem to remember there was a stoke_in_ed who was a physicist or something as well.

I worked with one years ago, how he ever managed to tie his shoelaces I'll never know, he was as thick as shit in the real world, couldn't see the bleeding obvious if it was marked out with a highlighter pen.
We worked in London for a short while, I remember him looking at his watch and giving a young lady the time on a night out in Soho.

Believe me, holding a PhD doesn't guarantee you're clever or even have any common sense. I've met my fair share of idiots in academia.
