Now that's what football is all about. Alot of people on here say they dont miss potteries derbies. I bloody do. Id give anything to get Vale in the cup. Can't beat that atmosphere of a local derby.

Why anyone would want to play the Vale again I do not know.

Mint video and because it happens to Leeds it makes it sweeter

The Stoke Vale derbies were good in the early days but near the end they were not very well attended and had lost their initial fire from what I remember.
From blood and thunder to barely a whimper!
Or maybe old age is affecting my memory!

Why anyone would want to play the Vale again I do not know. Because it's a local derby with an edge to it and we'd absolutely spank them....

We're expected win so it's no biggy, if we lose we won't hear the last of it. I don't see the attraction at all.

Cup upsets happen all the time, imagine if they beat us

Our record v Vale is terrible.
Still getting over losing 1-0 at home in the LDV Vans Trophy, Micky Cummings scoring with the back of his head.

There's nothing innocent about it, we'd beat them and beat them comfortably. Couldn't give a shit about all the previous games, the derby is a fixture to get the whole city talking, and personally I'd love to go to Vale Park on FA Cup 3rd round day and watch us turn them over.

Some boring twat behind me would be saying 'sit down' 30 seconds into that at the Brit.
These folk should be sitting at the side, like they used to, IMHO.

Much as I hate Wolves I miss that away day. A bit of spice never did anyone any harm. We were right next to the wolves fans in the corner in that epic 4-2 win when Fuller put it to bed at the end just after they should have had a pen. The banter was emense and probably the last time we have come anywhere near to a great hostile atmosphere. As said above the Vale derby did get boring at the end. Still be an experience again whatever the result !!

Amazing video. The whole stand is Leeds and every fan was totally up for it. You don't forget matches like that.
But how poor was Leeds defending?

I wouldn't care a shit if we got relegated tomorrow. Real footy games with real footy fans and tremendous away days. The only down side is the loss of cash for the club.

I think it is down to League Cup pricing and walk up accessibility as well as it being a pulsating local derby.
I mean you don't get a rabid atmosphere like that in the Premier League even for what are supposedly the big show case rivalries like the North London, Manchester and Liverpool derbies.
Remember West Ham and Millwall in the League Cup about 3 seasons ago. It seems to be the last remaining vehicle to throw up these old skool occasions where you have a walk in crowd paying £10 or £15 a pop rather than the £1000 + season ticket brigade at the big Premier league occasions.
Enjoy it while it lasts, I can see someone taking it away soon.

Hate what we have become, mild mannered, run of the mill mid table club with 1 song and expectations of grandeur. Sent from my C6603 using proboards

The whole city would be involved, and it's been that long that it would be a novelty again. When was the last one, 2001 and they beat us at the Brit? If anyone would take no satisfaction to sticking it to our closest enemy on the basis that we're "expected" to win, I'd seriously question your ability to find fun in anything. Not just as a Stoke fan, but as a human being. And if you'd pussy out on the basis that we might lose, what kind of fucking coward are you? Grow a set, man! No offence, like

Perfect.
Night cup game under lights, get off work early, neck a few quick pints , coming back from a goal down with 2 quick, cracking late goals to beat your local enemies, especially when they are one of the mighty fallen and you are the underdogs, tribal atmosphere, head down out of the ground to find the nearest pub that might be open to celebrate with your mates.
That is my idea of football heaven.

This is why I want the Vale to do well, not because I have any degree of passion or support for them, but because they'll get closer to us and although having them in the Premier League would be slightly awful (Vale fans wouldn't let us ignore it), it'd be great to play them in the league without us getting relegated.
