So after his disasterous world cup Jags is still preferred ahead of Shawcross, What an absolute F***ing joke is our England manager. Obviously has his favourites.Would be slightly acceptable if Ryan was included and given half a sniff.

Jagielka is one of the better defenders in that squad. A strange player to compare Shawcross with.

Been covered probably 30 times since May this I reckon I can't take any more of it It probably has been covered Wezza but in all honesty when you see that Stones (not even in the Everton team) and Chambers (why didn't Woy pick him for the summer world cup given that he was at Southampton every fucking week) are in the squad whilst Ryan is once again overlooked, it is right that a great many Stokies get more than a tad pissed off by the continued non-selection of our captain. If I was Ryan I would go and play for Wales. In 12 months time and if Ryan joined them, they would be a better side than England anyway. It pisses me off immensely. Ryan should be in that squad fighting for a regular starting place and it is a travesty that it isn't so.

Stones never got a look in at Barnsley either, I don't expect Ryan to be first choice, just give the lad a bleedin chance Hodgson!! If he fails then fair enough, I'm damn sure he wouldn't though.

Not just about Shawcross.
Issue for me is that not so long ago I would change my life around to be in a place where I wouldn't miss an England game. In just over two years Hodgson has completely knocked that out of me to the point that I now don't even know what group we're in for the Euros, only know there's a game because of the free weekend in Stoke's calendar, and in the last 12 months have actually watched other neutral international games broadcast at the same time as the England matches without even bothering to check the score before full time.

Shawcross isn't good enough to play top international football, but then again most of the England team aren't

Not being funny but times last year and the 2 games this season he's been poor and really should be dropped might make him realise he shouldn't just be an automatic pick

Jagielka is the most overrated defender in the prem. horrific World Cup and continued his pathetic form this season. I've never seen a centre half get caught beneath a ball as much as him. His positional play is awful. I've never banged the drum about Ryan for England but if jags can then bloody Ryan certainly can

Not being funny but times last year and the 2 games this season he's been poor and really should be dropped might make him realise he shouldn't just be an automatic pick What mistakes has Ryan made that constitute him having a bad game in our 3 games to date this season? He's been a little guilty of indulging us with the square pass across the pitch to Wilson but truth is, defenders are there to defend. Shawcross save 2 certain goals against Villa, was totally in control of the back line against Hull and scored our equaliser. I'm interested to know what exactly Ryan has done wrong to merit him having 2 bad games this season and that is me ignoring completely the comment about his form last season where he was imperious and easily our player of the season. As an aside and purely as a comment about his own general form, he is currently the 7th best defender in the dream team league and the 3rd highest point scoring centre half. He hasn't started the season badly at all in my opinion, save for his indulgence for passing the ball too frequently across the back line to Wilson.

ryan is a stoke player and i am [quite rightly]proud he is a stoke player. he has done more than enough to merit a place in the england squad. he would certainly be in my team but thats just a matter of opinion. however the facts cannot be denied he has been shafted by woy[how the fuck did he keep his job after the shambles in rio] i get the impression that if one of the big 6 or southampton signed a one legged blind centre half he would have more chance of getting into the england squad. for those saying move on bollox ryan is a stoke player and i will back him to the hilt this is the biggest injustice since huddy's two caps.

This sums up all that is wrong with Hogson:
Hodgson said: "I had a long chat with Arsene last night and just checked we weren't pushing him ahead too quickly, or asking something he's not capable of at such a young age, but Arsene assured me he's ready for any challenge. "With 10 injuries and six of them in the defensive part of the field, I didn't have the luxury of saying he could start in the Under-21s. We've had to jump him up and he's come in straight away."

Seen on the BBC live text thingy:
Text us on 81111
John Maynard, London: How on earth is Shawcross being overlooked? He's better than Cahill and Jagielka, has the City strikeforce in his pocket today and should be playing for England. I'd rather Brendan had spent the money to bring him to Anfield than Lovren or Sakho.

Ryan Shawcross is immense and he proves it every week, not just today.
I will never get tired of saying that it is an absolute travesty that he isn't involved in the squad.
He was head and shoulders above every defender on the pitch today.
