I think they both could have been given, and neither side have grounds for complaint.

I think they both could have been given, and neither side have grounds for complaint. I expected theirs to be upheld and for it to cost us the game...thank f*ck it wasn't

It was not a penalty. Pieters never touched him he went down looking for it! No doubt at all in my mind, whereas Diouf definitely had his ankle clipped!

Did Hart get a touch of Dan Diouf today Seeing as it's your first post and we're all in a good mood I'll go easy on you. 6/10 for effort and welcome

I just don't get why everyone thinks Manshitty are so invincible? Or why the Stoke have so little chance of getting a result? I think we'll come away with a clean sheet and surprise a few people. Gouranga. Just to reiterate my confidence among all the doom and gloom shysters I love a gloat the day after the day before. Gouranga.

Loads of reports today in the media, invariably slanted towards ManC but I like this one: City toiled and toiled for no reward and what worried most was that this game was not a smash and grab job but one fully merited by the visitors. Even more annoying was it gave Mark Hughes the opportunity to look really smug. Stoke should have had a second goal shortly after the first, and apart from Begovic palming a couple of shots away and Toure hitting the bar on the stroke of half-time, City created little.

How did we get on with natives ofter the result today!?! they were pretty sound to be fair. I think they knew that Stoke did a job on them and accepted it. They will see this as a minor blip!

Great stuff: Phil Bardsley - Stoke City
Unsurprisingly, Stoke's entire team was outstanding defensively in their shock 1-0 win at Manchester City. Bardsley still managed to stand out, however, with an incredibly energetic display up and down the right flank at the Etihad. Keeping David Silva quiet is no mean feat but Bardsley helped make sure the Spaniard never had any space to operate in. Ryan Shawcross - Stoke City
Coming a few days after he was left out of the latest England squad - and on the same weekend that saw Phil Jagielka's Everton and Gary Cahill's Chelsea involved in a nine-goal game - Shawcross' performance at Manchester City has led to plenty of people questioning Roy Hodgson's thinking. The Stoke skipper was sensational at the Etihad, organising his troops to brilliant effect to restrict the champions to very few opportunities. When they did get a sight of goal, Shawcross was usually first on the scene to avert danger. Peter Crouch - Stoke City
Strikers are generally judged on the amount of goals they score, but Crouch did so much good work outside of the box in Stoke's win at Manchester City that he had to be included in our XI. He made an incredible eight headed clearances out of his own box but his ability to hold the ball up at the other end proved equally as crucial on the day for Stoke, who were able to counter-attack effectively as a result. He may not be renowned for his mobility, but Crouch covered more ground than any other player on the pitch - missing a header to put his side 2-0 ahead was the only blot on his copybook. www.teamtalk.com/southampton/9451578/-
