SJW has just cemented a place in the starting 11.
2 goals and an assist in one game. That is more than the tip tap lightweights have managed between them in two matches.
Could you see any of our other forwards throwing themselves into the boots and fists to nab that first goal?

Neither of those goals would of happened without skilled crosses, something pieters, bardsley and PO aren't doing atm. Moses and Muniesa put those two assists for goal on a plate for Walters. If he missed them you'd be saying otherwise.

If Sparky goes with players on form, there's no way he can pick Mame Biram Pericard.
Walters off Crouchy for me please

Adam deserves a go in the attacking midfield role, spraying passes to Moses, Diouf, and Arnie.
I hope and expect us to go for it against Citeh rather than parking the bus.

Moses definitely needs to start after tonight, I'd drop diouf to the bench and start crouch.

Not sure why anyone would want Arnie starting...he's been absolute dross. This. He's done absolutely nothing in pre-season or so far this season to warrant a start ahead of some of the other players. Moses and Odemwingie on the wings for me until Arnie shows he's better.

If we go there and try to park the bus we're doomed. I really believe that. We need pace in the team and the ability to do something special to have any hope of achieving any positive result. I'd have Diouf, Moses and, probably, Odemwingie up top.

Walters off Crouchy for me please To be fair any player who'd got a run out against that Portsmouth team would have looked 'in form'. The fact is that Crouchy needed SEVEN glorious chances to score to net his one goal. Let's not get carried away by a League Cup goal. We saw from Kenwyne Jones' hat-trick against a far stronger Walsall side last season that goals in these games are not always a great indicator of form or suitability to a system.

I would stick with diouf, a lot of our players have been poor in the last 2 games.
If anyone needs dropping it's Arnie, his performance against Hull was by far the worst I have seen from any stoke player for a good year or so.
Moses needs to start for sure.
Hopefully we can get some sort of rhythm for the following week against Leicester.

Pace up front is the key to give them something to worry about, so the three players you mention should start IMO. This might be a game for Charlie Adam to shine because our midfield is going to do a lot of work supporting the defence leaving the forwards detached. Adam's long passing can provide the link.

Odemwingie was dire against a shocking Pompey side.
Moses ran riot while he did fuck all apart from give the ball away. Moses, Diouf and Arnie for me.

Can't see him starting Adam against Citeh.I worry about his tackling & we'll be doing a lot on sat. We don't want to be down to 10 men after 15mins.Adam is more suited to games when we are more on the offensive with his passing & shooting.Whelan,Nzonzi & Sidwell will all start.Moses will start with Diouf & Arnie or Wingie.Back 4 Bardsley Shawcross Huth & Pieters or Muniesa.

We need Arnie starting because he can hold the ball up and occupy defenders. Even though we know he hasn't shown his best form yet, Man city will throw two men on him to stop him creating anything. Leaving space for the likes of Moses/Bojan/Diouf/Odemwingie

That team would get slaughtered in midfield and there's no pace in the team apart from Moses, and you'd stick Walters on the wing?
I'll officially become a Hughes Hating Wankstain if he picks that team on Saturday.

I would be sorely tempted to include Adam in there, which would also mean including Walters, which would mean this team:
Bego Bardsley Ryan Huth Pieters
Whelan Adam Walters
Moses Diouf Arnie
Plenty of pace on the break and steel throughout the side. I don't see any problem with bringing back the Adam/Walters combo that proved to be successful last season.
