More questions than answers in many ways. Good result and decent performance but really surprised Diouf didn't get the chance to get some confidence back tonight. Moses and Adam were awesome and have to start but what about the other two forward slots? Will he drop Arnie? Would love to see Moses, Diouf and Armie...Will be very interesting to see how all these forwards are managed.

Yes , I see the point you're making and it would have possibly been useful to play more of our first team 'bonding' after two lack lustre performances , but reflection I suppose priorities have to be made in preference to the league . Players like Diouf Are probably too precious to be risked in first round cup matches like that we saw tonight. As for Walters two goals , well that's great to see , but should not needed on Saturday thank you.

I don't see how we can possibly base our selection on a performance against a league 2 outfit.

Adam completely changed the game against Hull and Villa irrespective of tonight. Re Moses why wouldn't you start him? The only question mark was over his fitness wasn't it?

If Adam couldn't play well tonight he should never play again. The amount of time and space he was given was criminal but they were a very poor side after all. We played with practically four forwards in Crouch, Walters, Moses and Odemwinge. He had the time to do what he is good at doing, spraying the ball about. You simply cannot make any judgements about the first eleven selection on tonight's performances. Crouch should have had a hat trick of headers but just would not be good enough to start. Walters scored two goals but once again showed all his usual weaknesses. He too should have had a hat trick. Moses was the exception and was head and shoulders above anyone on the park and should be a certainty for Saturday. With him playing instead of Arnautovic Diouf will start to score goals and Arnautovic will get the kick up the arse he needs. I hope Ireland gets fit soon then I believe himself, Bojan, Moses and Diouf will create us some goals. If Diouf does not produce get Odemwinge up front.

Scored as many goals tonight as the rest of the team could cobble together in the entirety of the first 2 matches. I can't imagine Hughes is going to go in to a 3rd game without someone who has some idea of where the back of the net is.

Scoring two tap ins against a league two team doesn't really merit a game against the champions of england for me And you can't say diouf has no idea where the net is after two games, does that mean bale, bony and lukaku don't have a clue either?

This. Also I recall (I'm sure) Hughes putting Jones into his league starting 11 after scoring goals in the equivalent league cup game last year with little effect. I'm sure he won't make the same mistake twice; a home game against 4th division opponents is no indicator of form for an away game against the champions - although it may give an indication of fitness for Moses and Huth.

Dunno about Saturday but for home games against teams like Leicester I could see us lining up like that again. We saw the value of Crouch again last night in joining the dots in the final third - his flick for Moses before the second goal was brilliant.
Adam is offering too much at the moment not to be involved as well and if that means going with Walters in the hole to do his runningand Moses and Arnie/Wingie/Diouf on the other wing I could certainly see a case for it.

Hughes will do very little other than stay with the players he has put his faith in in the first two games other than allowing for injuries. Portsmouth were just not bad they were extremely poor. Even I am good looking when compared with a Sharpai with warts. Both Crouch and Walters should have had hat-tricks and their weaknesses were there for all to see. Adam had very little defensive duties and was afforded so much time and space he could play to his strengths. This is just not going to happen in a Premiership fixture especially at Man City. I personally do not expect too many changes from last Saturday with the same defence and midfield. The only change I believe may be for Moses to start and Arnautovic to be on the bench.

As long as the team,(whoever plays), put in a performance, I'll be happy. What I don't want to see, is a lacklustre effort, as has been shown in the first two games. We all know it's going to be a tough one, but to come away feeling that the team has tried, will be more than satisfactory for me.

Counter attack quickly, take the game to them, try and get diouf on demichelis' shoulder and we could knick a goal at least
as long as it's a decent performance that shows progress I don't mind the result as we're expected to lose by everyone in world football!

I thought the good thing about Adam last night was the fact he provided service out wide which hasnt happened enough in the previous 2 games.

If we start quickly and are not afraid of putting our foot in early doors, this, I reckon anyway, will give Man City something to think about.
Teams that sit off them and give too much respect to them usually get torn a new one.
That first 15 minutes is vital for us this weekend.
I dont know why but I'll plump for a draw.....the win against Portsmouth, if nothing else, will raise our spirits.
Lets see who steps up to the plate against them.
VIS UNITA FORTIOR

I hope the ball goes no where near Diouf's head, hopefully it hits demichelis shoulder and goes in.
Seriously I think they will go a lot better than most people think !

Arnautovic - Diouf - Moses up top for me. Lots of pace and movement there.

I was just naming players that have also not scored yet this season the same as diouf, as diouf gets slated

Would love to see a lineup with Diouf and Moses behind Crouch up front. Still also have faith in Bojan too. Think those four on the field at once gives us tremendous fire power. Arnie is a top class player but has been playing miserably. Need more out of him.
