Obv I'm excited, but there's a little part of me that'd absurdly jealous that a 16 year old can say he's played for Stoke. I'm 25 and I'm still living at home wanking into socks. Atleast you can say u were born in possibly the most influential year of music this country has seen since the 60s Do you mean year or decade? What was so special about 1989? I can think of The Stone Roses and Disintegration only.

Considering how OTT this board usually is about just about everything, I can't believe how largely underwhelming the responses have been as to how he did tonight. I try not to get carried away about things, but to be honest, I was blown away by him. I know it was only the last 10 minutes of a match that was already over against a league two side, but I can't remember seeing a 16 year old ever take to the field and try to take the game over right from the start like he did tonight. I honestly don't think we'll be loaning him out anywhere. If he's not a first team regular in two years time, there's something wrong. Really impressive cameo as far as I'm concerned. That's half the problem with the national side, a lot of kids not given a chance.

Very assured display from Ollie - looked the part and that is all you can ask. No-one would have known he wasn't a full time pro
Full of confidence taking all the corners and shooting from distance with his second touch - a la Kris Commons debut v Sheff Wed
I would keep the lad and play him - could be the real deal

I can't see us loaning him out tbh, not this calendar year anyway. I think as long as we're in the cup and he's got the U-21's to play in, it's more than enough. He's only played 1 U-21 game so far to put it in perspective. Clubs will be interested I'd imagine but do you really want your 16 year old prodigy having lumps kicked out of him in the Conference/League 2?

Interesting to see how quickly he gets a sniff of England age group caps. Must be every chance of a call-up. It's ages since we had a genuine prospect

Give him games now and then and maybe we can slowly ease him into the side a loan isn't a necessity, look at James Ward-Prowse for Soton! Regular first teamer, full of confidence and a handy player to have around... 51 appearances all by the tender age of 19!

The biggest issue is keeping everyone grounded. To often in this country we brand young players as the next (insert former world class player here) especially after just one good season/tournament/spell. To often players/supporters/managers get sucked into this hype and we all get bitterly disappointed when they don't become the next (insert former world class player here). We have to let players fully develop and gain a real pedigree behind them before we put expectation on them.
I truly genuinely hope he becomes a great player but there's a help of a long way to go.

Looked to be a bit of a Kris Commons type mold from the 5 or 10 mins we got to see of him. Was impressed to see his first couple of corners did beat the 1st man and were aimed towards the edge of the 6 yard box where all corners should be placed.

Obviously a short cameo for him, but any thoughts from those who saw it? Did he get much chance on the ball? Looked good, didn't shy away, a couple of missed place passes like the rest of the midfield and forwards did, so not out of place

Would I be right to say that Karl Henry was the last Stoke player to gain England age group caps?

Without getting carried away, as debut's from young prospects go it was very impressive.
He had a shot with his second touch, wanted the ball, played some very nice passes and took a corner and this was in his first three minutes!
More than anything he did or didn't do he looked confident in his own ability alongside his far more senior team-mates.
Very promising, well done lad.

If you watched closely you saw Charlie Adam, encouraging, directing and helping him along, telling him to go take the corners etc I liked to see that,

To be fair the whole team were more than happy to let him have the ball and plenty of responsibility so it seems the players rate him as well as the gaffer.

Ollie is 16 - would I be right in saying that he and his his age group are the first players to have joined the Academy AFTER upgrading started when Peter Coates and his family bought the club back and started the process of improvement in the Academy facilities and coaching?
Perhaps Mark Wolstanton and the Wise Master could comment - and Bayern, of course!

To be fair the whole team were more than happy to let him have the ball and plenty of responsibility so it seems the players rate him as well as the gaffer. Everybody loves him. Manager and players alike. I posted only a couple of weeks ago how he was given a standing ovation from the manager after his first training session with the first team and the rest of the staff and all the players followed suit. Apparently, in that session, he was outstanding. He is 16 years old and he is a local boy. I posted how we would say him take to the field in a first team game before the season was out. Little did I know it would be in the first few weeks of the season. He looked confident and the players looked confident in him, giving him the ball at every opportunity. Adam, Shawcross and Huth also looked genuinely pleased to see him come on which was nice. I can only echo what Jamo said as to his ability. His confidence and willingness to be involved bodes well and in his 10 minute spell he has already shown to have considerably more ability than Messrs Ness, Edu and Shea. Good news for the boy, good news for our academy and credit to Mark Hughes and the management team for not being afraid to chuck him in.

Southampton give their kids a chance so there's no reason why he can't be given the odd cameo in the a few league games.
