I thought he would have picked Dier from Spurs. I like the look of him, he could be a real player for the future. Yeah, I don't get that at all. If he's going to take a punt on a young defender, surely you choose the one who was an impressive regular for a European team in Portugal and has played well since joining the Prem over 2 players who haven't made 30 first team appearances between them at center back. Without a doubt. Dier's story is an interesting one, and adds weight to my theory that the national team would greatly benefit if more of our players played their club football abroad and out of their comfort zone.

Just done rather a large poo and put it in an Arsenal kit. Expecting a call off Roy if anybody pulls out of the squad.

Colback Delph Rose Wilshire delph has been outstanding for villa Strongly agree. He should have gone to the World Cup along with Davies Shawcross and Huddlestone. Shawcross has had his worst start to a PL campaign since 09. For a change it's unjustified to moan about him not being called up

I lost interest in England when woy took over. Now with that squad....its clashing with coronation street for me.

I'm just suprised this thread has ran to three pages. At least Ryan will be fresh for his duties as Stoke captain without any uneccesary distractions.
Is this squad for the friendly against Norway that will probably have a crowd that will shame Wigan?

It would be nice as a stoke fan to see ryan play for England evan in a friendly, but sadly won't get the chance.

He can't even play a 10 yard pass never mind be in the top 4 English defenders. Stones and smalling are better? Hilarious. Smalling hasn't been called up.

Going back to the whole Shawcross playing for Wales debate, if you took Wales' strongest line up (adding Shawcross) and put them up against England, the way we're performing I don't think there's be much in it personally....
Wayne Hennessey (Crystal Palace)
Adam Matthews (Celtic) Ryan Shawcross (Stoke City) Ashley Williams (Swansea City) Ben Davies (Tottenham)
Joe Allen (Liverpool) Joe Ledley (Crystal Palace)
Andy King (Leicester City) Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal) Gareth Bale (Real Madrid)
Sam Vokes (Burnley)
Bit light between the sticks and up front but not a bad line up that.........

Wank yet again. Why doesn't Hodgson just do the honourable thing and fuck off? WHats everybody getting so worked up about this...? Half of the posters on here 'swore' " I aint watchin that shit again"....... The sooner everyone realises we will NEVER win ANYTHING the better They played like they didnt give a fuck in the WOrld Cup so bollox to em I realised a long time ago we wouldn't win anything. Im past getting worked up mate. My point of it all was Im fed up with him ignoring players who deserve a chance. Namely Ryan but others too like Nathaniel Clyne. Instead we have to put up with the same old shit.

The fact there are fewer quality English players in the PL is not the fault of the English manager. The fact that the quality players are not being picked is the fault of the England manager.

That squad with Woy the wanker in charge would struggle to finish in the top 6 in the Prem.
