I have been in Morrisons queued then asked to go to another pay station and queue again and the membership card is no different than having a season ticket which as been going on for years. I think you would still moan if the club let you in free.

I think you would still moan if the club let you in free. I'm fine- I have my ticket sorted just like you do. As long as we're alright, it doesn't matter about anyone else does it? (or the revenue that the club happily piss down the drain every cup game)

No they aren't managing it. You can order your groceries online but people still go into the shop for em, If queues start to form they put more staff on, they create card only. cash only only, self service tills all to help the customer's experience to prevent them going elsewhere. At Stoke they haven't got to worry about that, so they don't do sod all to help the fans, it's a ball ache getting to the ground as it is. They'll think nothing about paying footballers 10K a week that never play for the club, but then shut half the ground on less desirable non league games to save what ? A grand in wages ? I was at the Real Betis game and there were plenty of cash only turnstiles, but people with tickets were trying to get in through them even though they were clearly marked cash only. You can only do so much for people,if they can't even organize themselves to stand in the correct clearly marked que then you can't really blame the club.Talk about a Nanny state. I was at the betis game too, with my card pre loaded and had to queue for 15 mins to get in, not able to find seats like many others, then get sent around to the boothen where there was only 2 gates for cash at either end of the stand and the queue for both started at the same point as they were that long they'd reached each other, and this was after the game kicked off, there was another 4 or 6 turnstiles open but only letting card members through. It's not a nanny state, on the pitch it's a football team, off it it's a business, unless a billionaire is gonna keep us afloat the business requires to be successful in order to finance the team. A successful business makes money, in order for a club to make money it needs to increase it's fanbase. As Stafford points out often but correctly, a lot of fans are fickle, but so are a lot of customers, If you get pissed off with a business you stop giving it revenue. Football is different as loyalty plays a huge part. But to gain loyalty you need to capture them in the first place, aside from a Dad doing the Dad (Or mum for the PC Brigade) thing and dragging the kids to the match and forcing their allegiance to Stoke, then the club has to pro-actively scout for a bigger fanbase. The current set-up is a long way off attracting new comers. They've just about cracked weekend games (Although traffic is still hit n miss) but night games and cup matches are still fairly shambolic. They could get rid of cash turnstiles but that would probably also get rid of 1 to 2K of the attendance to. Without the fickle fans money we'll never be able to push on unless Bet365 finance the push (And with FFP still probably can't), and you only get fickle fans by bending over backwards to please em.

How many fans were bothered about revenue been pissed down the drain when Stoke had no money a few years back I think now its not the fans money which is very little in reality in todays game (premiership clubs), thats why we will be 50% down on a league gate tomorrow.

can he use a phone ? Not having a go at you or your dad but this is what I see about people saying about Stoke on Trent, the general attitude against change, the land that time forgot is what some people at work call it, 66 is no age these days plenty of colleges do beginners courses on it. The point- as always when this thread crops up every month- is that for some people, the club have made attending cup games a hassle. For people who haven't got the option of using the internet, then they've got to sit on the phone for ages in a queue to wait for service...then they have to queue at the ground to pick the ticket up...then queue again to get in with it. My Dad will think I can't be arsed with all that, it's only fucking Portsmouth, and won't bother going. If it was a case of turn up, hand ten quid over at the turnstile and get in, then he might consider it. However, because he knows that the extremely complicated and technical process of handing some money over at a turnstile will be beyond the club's ability to facilitate in an acceptable manner, he'll no doubt be on the sofa instead. Most of the club's support is made up of fairweather fans who will only be prepared to put up with inconveniences if they really want to attend a game. We have to make it as easy as possible for everyone to attend these crappy little matches, not just assume that the 25,000 people who turn up on a Saturday all have smartphones and are buzzing their tits off at the prospect of Portsmouth rolling into town on a wet Wednesday night. As a loving son can't you do it for him on the internet I do for my 78 year old mum whose going, the friends and families thing is easy to set up and then buy a ticket, people have had all summer to do it.

Good lord my time machine actually works!
In all seriousness do we need to keep creating the same bloody threads every time there is a pay on the gate.
Regardless of the club fucking up or fans turning up late arguing about it on here won't change anything. I would imagine those caught out last time would change the way they go about it this time afterall doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is a sign of insanity, like me checking this board and expecting people not to moan, every day same results but maybe tomorrow eh!

Important supporters information ahead of Wednesday's game... STOKE CITY have issued important ticket information ahead of tomorrow’s Capital One Cup second round tie with Portsmouth at the Britannia Stadium. Admission is priced at £15 for adults and £5 for over 65s, under 17s and disabled supporters. The Q-railing Stand and Boothen End sponsored by Staffordshire University will be open to home supporters for the fixture with seats available on an unreserved basis Cash turnstiles will be available on turnstiles 1, 13, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23 and 49 for away supporters. Supporters planning on paying at the turnstile are urged to allow extra time in order to avoid queues. The Club would advise supporters who have purchased in advance to use the other turnstiles – these will be clearly signed as ‘ticket only’ on the evening. The easiest way to book a ticket is to purchase online at scfcdirect.com which can be added to individual member cards (club card or season card) and would avoid any queuing on the night. What’s more, anyone who purchases in advance will receive 10 loyalty points towards ticketing priorities – please note this bonus will not be available to supporters who pay cash on turnstiles. Pre-paid collections will be at the ticket office until 5.30pm then will be at the satellite ticket office from then until kick off. Read more at www.stokecityfc.com/news/article/important-ticket-news-ahead-of-cup-clash-1877004.aspx#w0Op8LdyrSxKHIcb.99The club sticking with Black on Black then I see. Doesn't anyone at Stoke check the website & think hmmm there might be something wrong here.

There is absolutely nothing the club can do to ensure all the people who arrive at the last minute will get in with out missing the kick off. I have not seen one suggestion on this thread of what the club can do. The fans can help though. Anyone who knows now that they are going tomorrow should have got themselves a ticket so they won't be in the cash queues. There will still be people in the Gardners at 7.30 who will be moaning because they could not rock up as close to possible to kick off and walk straight in (is that the clubs fault as well). The only people who need to be outside the ground 5 mins before kick off are the ones who can't get there earlier because of work or genuinely decided last minute to go to the match.
Well it looks like you're not even bothering to read people's direct replies to you then.
The brit has already said, that against Betis there were turnstile operators twiddling their thumbs at the ticket only turnstiles, whilst huge queues developed and continued to develop at the (limited) cash only turnstiles.
Any decent management on the ground at the time would have noted the problem and reconfigured the number of cash turnstiles v ticket only ones to accommodate the demand.
As late as the Wednesday afternoon, SCFC marketing department were face booking the entire data base encouraging supporters to come and pay CASH for the match that evening because they had the capacity to deal with it.
They didn't.
I have been reading the thread. If loads of people turn up last minute then it does not matter how many cash turnstiles are open some will miss the start of the game. We know there will be a problem tomorrow but the supporters will still do nothing to help the situation. 30 minutes before the Betis game there were no queues at any of the turnstiles and you could walk straight in and pay cash. There is no need for so many people to turn up as late as they do.

Can't sleep am that excited about my first game of the season. Been in Northern Ireland since the start. I don't care if it's Portsmouth, I don't care that it's the Mickey Mouse cup, I don't care if someone wants to pay on the turnstiles or weeks before. Please god let there be no traffic hold ups in Northern Ireland or on the ferry to Scotland or on the journey across Scotland, or on the trek frown the m6 from Carlisle to stoke. If there is a hold up, let it be on my journey from stoke to Sussex afterwards. Give me the the opportunity to see my team and please give me a win. I would love to walk up 10 minutes before kick off. By design that is never going to happen, it will always take me planning od d-day proportions, that doesn't make me a better person or a more loyal supporter. What it does make me is far more stressed on the journey.
