Is this chronic knee jerking a product of the internet or did we always do it?
It is still August lads. He has played two games for the club. He has had one game where he was totally starved of service and one where he was poor.
I remember watching Wilfried Bony last season and he was dreadful bagged a few tap ins in Europe but link play was non-existent, ball didn't stick to him, looked like Pericard. He finished the season with about 25 goals and pretty much kept them up.
Not saying that'll happen with Diouf. What I'm saying is that it's miles too early to write a player off. Any chance of a bit of patience?

If some on here were around a few years ago Macari should never have bought Steino 5 games on loan and no goals, what a bag of shit he was just give the guy a fair go and who knows he may just hopefully come good.

You get what you pay for. Now how much did we pay for him? Um Nothing. Says it all really. Really can't see where goals are going to come from this season. how much did mama sidibie cost again ...sometimes a freebie is a bargain

We have some of the most idiotic fans going! To judge someone based on 2 games is pathetic You don't have a 1:2 goal ration in the Bundesliga if you can't score goals if your going be wrist slashers at least carry the action out and do us all a favour I couldn't care less if he scored 1000 goals in the bundesliga. I want see him it the back of the net for us.

Just because other players started off shit in the past doesn't mean Diouf will come good. He was unbelievably garbage for United and Blackburn too, he ain't gonna cut it in this league I'm afraid.

What an absolute pile of fucking horsehit. I try my best to stay of shit like this but Diouf has played 150 mins of competitive football for us, and people are already writing him off? and not only that, are bragging that they knew from day one that he wouldn't be up to it?
We really have got some of the thickest fucking fans in the world.
He may or may not do the business for us, but not one Stoke fan has got enough to go on to call it either yet.

Some experts are suggesting that the Bundesliga and Premier League are different and that some players who come from foreign leagues need time to settle. Like that bloke we signed from the Bundesliga last year...

I certainly do, by lots of people, whether they were idiots or not is not my judgement call. No you're wrong pal. He became a instant hit with Stoke fans and was top scorer in his first (and second) seasons. Hardly the stuff of mass criticism. No, i'm not wrong, i remember numerous games where fans where moaning before, during and after matches. I'm not making it up mate, i was there and i know what i heard.

A bit like Ireland v Villa and Odemwinge v Cardiff last season, both Diouf and Bojan are possibly trying too hard to impress.
Both have a lot of expectation to live up to and all players need to gain confidence and be able to read each others play.
Too much hesitation all over the pitch today, hopefully a better performance in the Capital Cup will help regain some confidence

He had a storming end to the season after he'd taken time to adapt.

Did he ever play as a lone striker in the Bundesliga?
The role does look a bit alien to him, and we seem to be wedded to the 4-2-3-1.
So if it becomes clear he can't do it, not sure where we go with a 4-yr £60k(ish) deal tied up in him.

He's far from shit, but last season has gone. Certain players need to have a bloody good look at themselves. Today was worse than last week and it isn't acceptable.

I'm willing give the lad time mate, perhaps we will need to shuffle the team around and give him someone to play off. However it may only be two games in but I think it's clear to see he doesn't fit this system. The same as it was clear to see Ireland and bojan should never be in the same team. Hopefully Hughes will see this and we learn

If you pay peanuts and all that
We have spent virtually nothing in the window yet we expect Diouf (and the other freebies) to be world beaters
Unless we see a serious sum of money spent on a top striker then we are going to have to get goals from all over the park not just one man

But we were prepared to spend money on him and his record in Germany would very much suggest he was that? Are we saying if we'd spent the £8m on him he'd be flying? He was just as much an educated punt as Bony was or Jordan Rhodes will be for Hull.
