Eamon Dunphy wants a bucket of scorpions dropping on him. A bucket of something beginning with the letter "s" for sure!

Looking back on that whole Eamon Dunphy situation it actually helped both Glenn Whelan and Stoke City. Dunphy's comments came in September of last year, when Whelan wasn't featuring at all for us. His only game in that month was the League Cup win at Tranmere. I was confused by the timing of Dunphy's comments to be honest because it was after an Ireland game that i'd watched on telly where there were plenty of Irish players who were much worse than Whelan. One of the reasons i think Glenn's mint is that he's a fighter, you drop him, and he works his arse off to get back into the team and then tries his damnedest to stay there and last season it clicked and then some, because when he got himself back into the team we played some fantastic stuff and his performances made people say "Listen i'm not a fan of Whelan but..." Football's funny, there are some players who play for your club who you don't take to (Danny Collins) yet there are some who you do take to and you can't figure out why really. I don't think i fancy him. He's frustrated me immensely because he was so inconsistent for so long, but i always thought he had it in him to be mint for us. He was a 1 good game then 3 bad un's type of performer, but last season he showed what a bloody good player i always thought/knew he could be. His full debut was the Wolves 2-4 Stoke City cracker and it's weird when you think that out of the lot who helped get us promotion there's only Ryan Shawcross, Andy Wilkinson and Glenn Whelan who remain potters. stokemanusa once accused me of loving Glenn Whelan. I do, what of it! Hancock and Wheeler sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g

It's a fact. When Glenn Whelan plays well, Stoke City play well. It's just the type of player he is. If he had been more consistent he'd probably have gone on to bigger & better things by now.

Nice on Glenn!!! My son who was 2 at the time had open heart surgery in Crumlin hospital and I know that Eamon Dunphy will donate as his grandson has had heart surgery a few times in Crumlin. Both of my sons now play for Crumlin FC

Great stuff Sir Glenn I almost hate to bring this up on a thread like this but anyone who doubts what a top man Glenn is should remember he was the only person to offer Ramsey any immediate comfort on the pitch after his leg break, his team mates were too busy racing around waving imaginary red cards or too scared to go anywhere near anyone that badly injured. Glenn is just a fantastic guy

Glenn's best game last season was at West Brom.
Top man who never hides,

Glenn is just a fantastic guy I'm not his biggest fan as a player but Whelan (and Walters) are top pros and you can see why managers like them. They give everything they have and must be a great example and influence on others around them. They never get anything less than full respect from me.

I love it when we see that one of our players (sure most are) are good guys. It gives me as much pride as them playing well.
Whelan has had some tough times at Stoke but love that he's still here and performing well for us.
Only him and Ryan from the Championship days and he deserves all the respect in the world for that. One of the best value for money buys in our history in my opinion.

Can't stand this ice bucket nonsense. Why not just pay the money to the charity without the silly stunts?
Talk about dumbed down society, ice buckets just about sums it up.

Agreed mate - just give the money to charity. Hardly a challenge this ice bucket stuff, is it? Think people should stick to bloody raising money by doing marathons, etc. Something that you have to train for and takes effort. I was a bloody student, so I had to take ice cold showers on a regular basis. Never had anyone congratulating me!

Well, because at the same time you take your challenge, just as Glenn did, you pass a challenge on to someone else who is then in effect 'on point' to take a challenge of his or her own for some charity or another and lots of folks are dragged in who would not normally be raising money. The whole thing snowballs. I don't like it much either but I can see it works. Anyway, give it another 2 weeks and it will all be yesterdays news!

I'm in agreement with those that say it shouldn't be necessary and that it's getting old, HOWEVER, I just got nominated by someone on FB so I guess I'll have to do it tonight.
