I need a new laptop but not sure what I am looking for. Which makes are good? I don't have a clue about processors etc. As long as it runs games such as Sims 4 then I'm happy. Thanks

www.saveonlaptops.co.uk is a good website. I've bought from them before and can recommend. Look at an i5 processor as a minimum with a dedicated graphics card. Push to an i7 if you can afford.

Which makes would you recommend though? Seen some Toshiba laptops at decent prices but don't know if they are any good? Lenovo also.

I will probably buy another Dell but wait a month or two as northwichstokie says for the prices to come down. I'm looking to spend around £300-400.

Lenovo are the best, especially the Thinkpads.
Dell and Toshiba are alright, Dell are cheap but be sure to get a warranty.
Avoid HP (quality) and Sony (overpriced).

I've checked and I bought the daughters touch screen Inspiron one last October for £276, had Windows 8 on it, they are over £500 atm, I bought the lads Inspiron 5000 this week it has an i5 processor and 1TB hard drive, windows 8.1, mcafee for a year, £475, if it wasn't his birthday and him going back to Plymouth Uni I would have waited. I've always bought Dell, had 6 now, and never had a problem with any of them, very reliable. Got rid of the Dell tower pc a few months ago, it was still going after about 12 years.

Windows comes with windows defender, I'm using that on this tablet and never had a problem. I aren't bothered with the mcafee as I get up to 7 devices covered free with BT infinity

I have always used Toshiba's and have always found em dead reliable and well priced, back in the day when I had a company lap top, I always asked work to put all my stuff on my own Tosh...

How is it a scam that consumers dont bother reading the instructions? everything you purchase these days has pages and pages of instructions, many of them patronising. e.g. on my ipad there is an advise note not to immerse it into water???wtf life is to short to read through pages and pages of waffle. a lot of people have made a lot of money out of the gullible public. when really the product you buy shouldn't be so open to threat.what happens to all the hackers who send out viruses or scam? fuck all unless they try to get into the us defence system then they will be locked up for a million years.
