If you are reading this Alan, prostate cancer is very treatable, I speak with a great deal of personal experience, I had surgery to sort it around 6 years ago here at the UHNS, I'm pleased to say I am clear of the cancer.
I am now nearly 65, tested now just once a year, the last one was June, all OK and I am living practically a normal life.
Best of luck to one of the finest players ever to pull on the red and white shirt.

I hope he pulls through. He wasn't my favourite player (that was a toss up between Jimmy G and Ritchie) but he was certainly the best player during my 60 years as a Stoke fan. In his first spell at the club he totally dominated games in a way you rarely see from any side let alone Stoke. Many of his troubles since he retired have been at least partly self inflicted but prostate cancer seems to be unbiased in who it chooses to attack. Let's hope he's one of those men who make a good recovery - as several friends and family have done. Maybe the club could add Prostate Cancer UK, or a similar charity, to the list of charities they support either this year or next?I like all of the other posters was mesmerised by Alan Hudson both times he played for Stoke and I would like to do my bit so I am calling also for the club to support this charity this year.

Wouldn't it be a nice gesture if the club did something for him such as providing private treatment for him and/or made him guest of honour at a match so that we could all show our appreciation for the great man.

By far the best player I've ever seen play for The Potters, a joy to watch. I can remember being at the 100th international match at Wembley versus West Germany and he totally ran the show. I really wish him well and hope for a full recovery. A magician who controlled the show - an idol of the time. For me, Banks and Hudson were and will remain the greatest players I saw playing for Stoke. Every good fortune in fighting the illness Alan.

A fabulous, fabulous player. I will never see a player any where near as good in red and white.

A fabulous, fabulous player. I will never see a player any where near as good in red and white. The best player ever to wear the shirt. Another life destroyed by alcohol, such a shame and such a debilitating illness. He could play a bit. Sat in front of the defence and was essentially a playmaker 10 years before the term was coined. This is where I want to see Charlie play, but he can't fucking tackle. Maybe he can learn, but he brings some great immediacy to our game. You can't be everything, some people can't be fucking anything...
