Good result - although half of the Liverpool squad were at a tournament in Europe so they had a very young side out.

U21s, U18s..... What's the point because Adam at 28, Shooton and Shea at 24 were allowed to turn out for the U21 under some obscure rule that allows overage players to play. Who was playing for the U18s? Half the first team squad? Is there an U12 team BTW? If so maybe we should recall Ness and give Palacios a run out.

As far as I know overage players are not allowed in the Under 18 squad and the age groups below that. Only the Under 21 squad is allowed 3 overage players. So your fears/concerns for the Academy squads are groundless. Hooray!

However if I was an academy player eligible for the U18 squad and I was displaced by an experienced first team player to give him a run out I would be pretty annoyed.a

I'm not sure what the U18 players have to worry about as no first team (over 18) players can play in an Academy game. As far as the development games are concerned, I think the few U18s who make it into the U21 games will be ok at the occasional first teamer who gets involved. I doubt if Ollie Shenton is annoyed that he got a game alongside Charlie Adam the other day - in fact I bet he's chuffed to bits.

If memory serves me right we have played a number of over 21's usually at the beginning of a season when players need games under the belt. I think Sidibe & Tonge played in a game a few seasons go.

It's very encouraging and I think the u18s beat Liverpool u18s at home last year as well I'm sure it was at the brit. The only thing I would have said in that game was the Liverpool players did appear to be technically better.
Very good result though and some decent finishes.

Was that Simon Mignolet in goal for them?

You can only beat who is in front of you AND because Liverpool are a big name club, they are going to have a bigger academy and they are probably snap up a lot more players than we will, so they are going to have strength in depth.
Well done boys, Terrific Result. The future looks a lot brighter after that...
