Hope we can get some money which we could then SPEND seeing that almost all our new players came in a free. A good ball playing centre back is truly needed IMO

West Ham at home was one of them, and he didn't do too bad in that game

I don't really know where Malteser got the idea that Muniesa played only one game at cb and was poor in that game. He played pretty poorly on his league debut at Everton and he was in good company that day as most of his colleagues had poor games as well. Altogether he featured in 17 games with 13 of those games in the league. From memory close to half of those 13 league games were starts. He probably played a slight majority of his time at left back and the remainder at centre back. Only Everton stands out as a poor game and he certainly had a few very good games - I remember being surprised at how good he looked in the air and how crisp his tackling was on occasions. Given his age and experience I'd say he's done well and has a bright future. Obviously if Malteser becomes manager he'd best ask for a transfer as he will have no future at Stoke under a manager with amnesia!

Did Muniesa play centre half at Southampton too?? If so that's two goals conceded at Soton and four at Everton. With Bojan, Ireland and Muniesa it would be Charge of the Lightweight Brigade

A good ball playing centre back is truly needed IMO If we are able to keep all players happy then yes. An injury or 2 for one of our defenders, especially Shawcross could be a problem and a proven CB would be a great addition Selling a current player who is a defender is also a possibility I agree that Muniesa has played well for us, especially at home against Adebayor as mentioned in another post - we seem to still be in "let's give that a try" mode when, players need to have more confidence / awareness re the players they are linking with.

I might be wrong of course.

But I was pleasantly surprised by his performances at cb - Goodison apart and even there he was just one poor player of many.

Re Muniesa, one was against where the little weakling was the first person to win a header out of all of our team against Andy Carroll. He also played there against Fulham at home and dealt with Bent with ease and again was our best defender on the pitch by a mile.

With Bojan, Ireland and Muniesa it would be Charge of the Lightweight Brigade I assume you're a big lad who prefers his football "up and at 'em"? No place in your line-up for a cultured player or two? Let me guess your ultimate 11: Bego Wilko, Huth, Ryan, Higgy Delap, Whitehead, Whelan, Cresswell Sidibe, Walters Jesus give me strength!

Celtic bid for Stoke's Cameron Jerome could be thwarted by Norwich dailym.ai/XteOKR via @mailsport Can't see Celtic competing with Norwich on the transfer fee or salary. Also, he doesn't fit the player profile Celtic are usually look for (or can afford); upcoming players that don't cost much but could be sold on for a big profit.

Personally I don't think we need anyone new in
Just a matter of shipping out players who won't feature anymore, partly for fees and partly wage savings - Jerome is an obvious one and probably has some value. IMO, a shame to lose Walters, particularly when we don't know how the newbies will bed in, but if an offer came in for Crouch, Palacios or him I'd be inclined to accept it
+ the usual, Shea, Ness etc, can go whenever they want (is Edu still around?)

Percy is seldome wrong, so it'll be good to get one out of the door. 2m into the kitty, I'd guess, and frees up some wages.

Jerome would bag 30 goals a season in Scotland.
Personally, I'd rather keep Jerome and get rid of Walters.

The deal is now dependent on the 28 year-old striker agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.
