Was like playing with Ten men I thought at times. Didn't look much quality on the ball on the rate occasions he actually touched it

Today we didnt use him right. He isnt a player that you can whack the ball to from every angle.
I worry our midfield is not setup right for him and our distribution from the back today was conference standard.
To pick on the player himself is woefully poor insight and judgement.

So fickle, before the game he was the best thing since sir stan, now he's less than sidibe? give the guy a break, new league, new country and a new set of fans, judge him at the end of the season
Remember Arnie at first?

He's played 70 fucking minutes and already there's a thread doubting him. Jesus Christ. So we are not allowed to discuss debut performances on a football forum ? After how many games am I allowed to comment? Your 'comment' was that he's a poor man's Sidibe. So no, you aren't allowed to comment if you're coming out with such shit. ONE GAME FFS

Can't do anything if the defenders are passing it backwards and sideways or hoofing it out of play. Also our wingers didn't beat their full backs once. Thought we missed Odemwingie today.

Had absolutely fuck all service today. Felt for him tbh.
Needs balls around the back of defence. The amount of times he was calling for the ball and we chose to go backwards was abysmal.

The most worrying thing today was that the players that are not great on the ball (shawcross, whelan, Wilson) were the 3 players that had it the most.

Which players were choosing to go backwards? Nzonzi and whelan.

I've read some shit on here but this thread takes the biscuit. Our whole front four were completely ineffective, Bojan looked lightweight, Ireland was abysmal, Arnie was the Arnie that first signed for us. Diouf I felt really sorry for, no service at all. Hughes needs a rethink and Odemwingie if fit should play every game.

Give the lad time.
He clearly has talent, but needs to toughen up a bit over the coming weeks.

Thought his movement was good, but he does need to try and get involved more. He needs to try and make things happen rather than wait for things happen, and i think he could learn a lot from crouch.

He needs the ball playing to him for a start. Then we can judge.

Great players like Diouf and Bojan need support. They can't get ALL the support from the wingers, and even Bardsley. The central midfielders must assist as well. But I've said it for some time now, N'Zonzi and Whelan don't do it for me, getting far too deep defensively all the time. Like they were our 5th and 6th defenders.
The biggest surprise today was perhaps Bardsley's intentions.

This thread has some right wankers post on it. The lad has had one game and didn't do badly but clearly needs service
Any comparison with Sidibe is based on what ?
He is black ? He is named Mame ? What a load of bollocks - totally different players with no other similarities whatsoever
Some Stoke fans are so fucking thick it makes me want to weep

Not writing him off this early but I was expecting a little more talent. Worked hard, but looked scared to try anything and doesnt look like a goalscorer at all. Did we really wait so long for that player???

He never got a good ball to play today. When Crouch came on up front, every ball was aimed at him and we looked like we'd win the game. If Diouf had been played in the same position, we'd have got a better indication of his ability. FFS, don't right the lad off yet, get him in the right position, feed him, and see what he's capable of.Today he was running himself into the ground chasing impossible balls.

Have to say I thought this bloke was garbage today....but he has scored plenty in the Bundesliga so clearly has pedigree so time needed to adapt.
Was going to say as there seems to be no thread on him...where was Odemwingie today? He has a good scoring record against us and surely he'd be a better sub option than Walters. Was he injured?

I felt Odemwingie was a big miss today. He fits well into your attacking system with his pace and can poach goals himself, usually plays well against us. That and the game completely passed Ireland by, Adam needed to be brought on sooner. Whelan and N'zonzi excel much better at the defensive aspects of the midfield game, I'd say that would be clear with them being at Stoke for quite a while.
I was more commenting on when he was on the ball such as running it out for a goal kick just before he was subbed. As I've said he's scored a decent amount in Germany so he's clearly no mug.
