I think all the games so far have been about fitness and testing people in certain positions.
I imagine the last 2 games of the season will see the side we expect to start the season with and actually put more into it. It's normal stuff and really not worth worrying about.

West Ham vs Malaga is on Sky channel 167, if anyone is interested I saw that was on Quest as well, since when did they start showing football games. Thought it was all about Takeshi's Castle on there LOL I might watch the Newcastle game after, be interesting to see Cabella, De Jong and Riviere if they play.

Charlie is great going forward but as this half has illustrated perfectly he is a liability in the deep lying midfield role.
I love him as a player but I just don't know where he fits in Hughes's system.

Playing 4-4-2 is just a waste of time, isn't it? It'd never work for us in the Premier League with the players we have. Let's hope fitness is the only aim of the day. Seems a bit odd. Why not just play the ones you wanted to get an hour into their legs yesterday in a 4-2-3-1 - instead of the likes of Shea, Jerome, Ness etc? Then give the other core players the same today. I'm sure they know best, but to the layman, it seems a bit strange.

Walters is dire out wide and the front two don't look like it's a partnership with any mileage in it.

Charlie Adam is clearly a very talented footballer but he doesn't really work in any position. Poor positioning and can't tackle so he's no good playing deep and doesn't have enough pace to play higher up behind the strikers.
He's almost a bit like David Luiz but to a lesser extent. Some brilliant attributes but also a liability.

Nar Charlie is quality best player at stoke. Looks best with better players like Liverpool.

We've known for a while that Walters is garbage out wide though. Seems a waste of time to stick him out there, even if it is a pre-season friendly. Adam is, well, he's just Adam. He'll always be a great individual player (on his day), but very rarely a team player.

I think Adam will only ever do well with two other central midfielders alongside him - he's just not disciplined enough.

Walters going marauding all over the place.
Adam doesn't look fit or interested, as we well know he needs other to do the donkey work for him so he's suffering today.
Diouf seems to be a bit all over the place, certainly no partnership with crouch there.
We are missing Ireland, odemwingie and Whelan desperately atm. Bardsley has had a good game, shows the difference in having a good right back there.
As others have said, big hole in the middle of the pitch. Hope Whelan, Ireland and bojan make an appearance second half. With crouch, Adam, and Walters going off.

Just my opinion, I haven't seen anything from us in pre-season that makes me think we really know what we'll do with these new players or even what formation to use. I hope to be proven wrong but I think it's a smart bet at this stage.
