TBF Slicko this is their colours they wore in late 50's - early 60's. Hardly a hull template. This was also one of their early colours in 1890's and Hull weren't formed until ten years later so more accurately Perhaps Hull's strip is a template of Vale"s "new" away strip.

Surprised they're not red and white given Smurf's talent for PR.

I must admit that 'old gold' colour is my least favourite for football strips.
It just looks dirty somehow and reminds me of Wolves.

From memory for the 50s and 60s but this site is very useful, for historical kit research Sliko. At the bottom of the historical kit pictures there is also a little dit on the club history. If you look at our historical kit page you will see that we also played in these colours for a season before we got "City" status. www.historicalkits.co.uk/Port_Vale/Port_Vale.htm

On the subject of kits, what's with our Paintspa style socks? Them red ones are crackers. Looks like the players are wearing pink shin pads over the socks.

It beats that 'waspish' yellow and black pinstripe abomination they had a few years ago.

I thought that they had adopted a baby Zebra from the title, you know one of them schemes like at Twycross to try to improve their image with the general public.
